The Correlation Between Language and Metaphysics In Philosophy it is often known that although something may exist, it doesn’t mean it is understood in a deeper way. Language, its origins and human communication is connected in a deeper way to the study of metaphysics. Language is often defined as a form of communication, that is either spoken (the first form) or written (the second form). Metaphysics is often defined as the deeper meaning of our words, abstract concepts, the practice of theories, and insightful perspectives in the world and who we are as individuals. We all may have language, it is done and known before birth in its first form of speech; metaphysics however is developed from where we come from, the world around us, and our opinions and insights. Metaphysics, abstract thoughts, and the substance of words, is something that makes language worthwhile. Language is the human form of communication. It is how we express our needs, desires, and communicate to the world around us. Our language makes us who we are; language makes us all individually unique. It is essential to the survival of our basic needs at the minimum. It is also the way mankind stays connected to the world. Language develops from individual words, to sentences, to propositions, and builds as we grow. Eventually we are able to form arguments and create opinions. We find as we develop in the world, we add to our language, and build upon it, as our knowledge continues to grow. As our language grows, so does our minds. As we learn we know writing, and the second form of communication. However, language is something that can be known, by everyone, but it doesn’t give anyone an understanding of the world. We need to develop that understanding of the world. It grows and builds just as language does, throughout our understanding and education. The deeper root of language grows with metaphysics. Metaphysics is the deeper understanding of the world around us. Through language, we know language, words, sentences, and we can process them. However, gathering language and understanding abstract theories, a deeper understanding of our universe, the creation of the world, and actually giving substance to the basics of language is the correlation of language and metaphysics. We can develop in language and go to metaphysics through our experiences, our opinions, and our education. Words often have deeper meaning as well as phrases, sentences, propositions, and we couldn’t have language without metaphysics. Words often don’t exist in a physical form of the world, and the understanding of what is actually said (for example unicorn) is a part of the process of the development of language and metaphysics. It allows our words not just to be in language but give our language and our world deeper meaning then what is on the surface. Without metaphysics there wouldn’t be a world that we have today with the advancement of technology, medicine, cures for diseases, and even just greater thinking and philosophy itself. There is more to the world, then what is just plainly said or written. Language is the basis for the the beginning of life. It develops as we develop knowledge, gain education, and gather ideas and opinions. The world and human beings couldn’t survive without language. However, as we develop language, we also develop thought, the deeper meaning behind the words that we speak, hear, and understand. The bigger concepts, ideas, theories, and thoughts are all formed because we understand language. One can understand and create deeper connections to the universe due to metaphysics. We wouldn’t have an advanced world, or continue to be without metaphysics. It is a part of life just as well as language. We couldn’t continue to advance as a civilization without metaphysics as well as its base of language.
