Lap band 2

Lap band surgery has become one of the most popular forms of bariatric weight loss surgery out there. Like every surgery there are a few steps to take before a patient can proceed with the actual surgery. First they would need to see if they qualify for the procedure. Then they would need to prepare and understand the process of this procedure. As well as understanding the risks and complications that can occur throughout the process. While there are many risks and complications involved with lap band surgery, it can still provide obese patients with the opportunity for a healthier life in the future.

Although many people believe they are overweight, or believe they need weight loss surgery.
There are still many standards and qualifications that they still have to meet before being approved for lap-band surgery. One of the important standards is that they must meet is having a body mass index of 40 or higher. Having a body mass index of 40 or higher proves to be the ideal candidate for lap-band surgery. Going by body mass index is a useful indicator of whether or not a patient is a good candidate for weight loss surgery. Some patients who do not have a body mass index of 40 or higher, but have obesity related health issues can also prove to be an ideal candidates for lap-band surgery. Along with the main standards and qualifications some patients may also qualify if they are over one hundred pounds of their ideal weight, if they are twice their ideal weight, or have been overweight for five or more years (Allergen Inc. 2009). On a patient’s journey to a healthier life, there are many other things besides qualifications that they need to worry about. Many patients will have to prepare

Gastric Bypass Versus Lap-Band

...While both Gastric-Bypass and the Lap-Band procedure have similarities, there are differences in the amount of discomfort, effort, and amount and time of weight loss. There are many important decisions to be made when choosing which procedure would best fit the needs, lifestyle, and health of an individual. Comparing these side-by-side should help in making an informed decision. Here is a brief description of each procedure. Gastric-Bypass is a surgical bypass operation performed to restrict food intake and reduce absorption of calories and nutrients in the treatment of severe obesity that typically involves reducing the size of the stomach and reconnecting the smaller stomach to bypass the first portion of the small intestine. (1)The Lap-Band procedure is a silicone belt or collar that goes around the upper part of the stomach. (2) The Lap-Band procedure is also surgical based. Both procedures restrict the amount of food that can be eaten resulting in loss of weight. Both procedures are surgical. While Gastric Bypass alters the stomach and intestines, Lap-Band does not. On the other hand, Lap-Band introduces a band that is left inside of the body, while gastric bypass does not. The surgical risks of both procedures are very similar. Having Gastric By-Pass, the risks associated with the surgical procedure can include: Excessive bleeding, Infection, Adverse reactions to anesthesia, Blood clots, Lung or breathing problems, Leaks in your gastrointestinal...

The Dangers of Gastric Bypass and Lap-Band Procedures

...Week 3 – LOM Assignment 1 Michaela McClellen The Dangers of Gastric Bypass and Lap-Band Procedures As with any surgery, gastric bypass and lap-band procedures pose potential health risks. One danger with the gastric bypass procedure is a condition known as “dumping syndrome”, this is where ingested foods bypass the stomach too rapidly and enter the small intestine largely undigested. This undigested food draws excessive fluid into the small intestine causing nausea, cramping, diarrhea, sweating, feeling faint and fast heart rate. In addition people with this syndrome often suffer from low blood sugar or hypoglycemia. Blood clots in the legs can be another danger: In some cases they travel to the lungs and lodge in the arteries which could cause a pulmonary embolism, a serious condition that damages lung tissues and can even lead to death.(“Gastric Bypass Surgery” ,2007) The lap-band procedure also has dangerous risks, one being: Infection of Surgical wounds, or deep abdominal infections because of manipulation of the bowel and organs with the added potential of damaging of bowels and releasing contaminated contents into the stomach. Another risk is the slipping of the band from its original position, if this were to occur then the surgical procedure would be necessary to be performed again. Tgirls

...Back stabbed.. After friday night's bad experience at the club, I was told that the genetic girls (which were brought in to augment our numbers as the ts girls are notoriously hard to get to come in) would be de-emphazied. Not fired, just de-emphasized, and only brought in if circumstances absolutely demanded it. For the last two Friday's we had plenty of tgirls, but still we had a bunch of genetic girls, because no one was keepng a schedule. So hardly any of us made even our house fees, and everyone had to scramble to find people to flirt with/lap dance with, whatever it is that we strippers do. This last friday, on a day that was very tense as another co worker's job was on the line for basically pissing off another tgirl outside of the club (a bullshit reason), I just happened to go up to the wrong guy. It was nearing the end of the night and I hadn't made any money, but apparently the guy I went to was there to see one of the cis-gendered females. When I apptempted to flirt with him, I got the whole "You're a guy" and "I'm not a faggot' stuff, and it quickly escalated from that. I was like "why are you even here?" which is the question I had to ask. I also learned later that earier, someone overheard him telling me to "go home" If a TS strip club is a safe haven for ts girls, and THEIR ADMIRERS, then the customer base is comfortable with being there. I threatened to quit over this and I was told that the genetic girls working the night shift would be let go, or de-emphazised...

Broadfbanding

..."broadbanding" refers to the melding of job clusters or tiers of positions into relatively wide bands of pay ranges for the express purpose of gaining flexibility in managing career growth and administering base pay. In effect the bands are implemented as an alternative to traditional pay grade structures. Banding collapses a number of pay ranges in a traditional structure into a few broad bands, each spanning the pay opportunity formerly covered by several separate pay ranges. Companies adopting this approach generally have reduced the number of pay ranges by one half to two thirds. In many organizations, employees are facing fewer advancement opportunities. This is due to a number of factors, such as the wave of baby boomers bottlenecked in middle- management jobs. Also, as organizations become leaner and flatter, many promotional opportunities have disappeared as a result of mergers, restructuring and downsizing. Broadbands help reset employee expectations and create realistic career aspirations by redefining promotional opportunities. With fewer bands, employees recognize that promotions (as only defined by a change to higher grade level) will occur less frequently than before. Also, since the broadbands are typically further apart than traditional ranges, employees recognize that they must assume significantly greater job responsibilities to warrant placement in a higher band. Traditional ranges may inhibit skill acquisition and cross training since jobs are narrowly...

Robinhood Case

...1. What problems does Robin Hood have? What issues need to be addressed? Ans: The Increasing size of the band had been the core problem for Robin Hood, because it was getting very hard to manage the band. The core issues were the lack of discipline in band and the cost of buying the food was draining the bands financial reserves. 2. Do Robin Hood and his band need a new mission? new objectives? For example: why not accept the offer of the barons to assist in securing King Richard¡¯s release from prison (give me pros and cons for that possible new mission, and do you suggest adopt this new mission)? Ans: Yes, Robin Hood and his band need a new mission, a new objective and a good strategy. He should adopt a new mission to free the people from Prince John and return king Richard to the throne. Robin Hood can also join with barons to collect the ransom to release King Richard. This option might seems risky but he has to do something, which is better than doing nothing and getting caught my Sheriff. His present strategy has been outdated and it could not work at the time when his enemy is too strong and well planned. 3. . What strategic options does Robin Hood have? Is continuing with the present strategy an option or is the present strategy obsolete? For example, why not try to end the campaign by killing the Sheriff; why not try to move to another...

My First Concert

...life. The night was filled with a bunch of new experiences and memorable ones as well. I was 16 years old, was always into punk rock and the related genres, slowly transitioning into hardcore rock and metal. At the time I was not aware of the huge differences of the variety of music scenes, I was used to going to a very small local punk rock show; an environment where I knew almost everyone at the show, and more than likely the band playing as well. Well, local shows are only fun for so long. It was nearly my birthday I wanted to nothing more than to go to a real concert with names that were known by more than just the kids at my school. Sure enough I was going to get my chance! A couple of my friends were planning on going to a show, but one of their friends dropped out on them so they had an extra ticket. They offered me the ticket and I accepted in an instant! This show was consisted of 4 bands, 3 of which were on my top 10 favorite bands list. Underoath, The Devil Wears Prada and Saosin, I couldn’t believe that I was going to go see these bands live! The day of the show finally arrived, I could barely contain my excitement throughout the day, hours seemed like days while I basically watched the clock. Finally I was picked up and off to the show we went. This had to be longest rides of my life! The venue was in Royal Oak, which happened to be only 45 minutes away, but by this time I was so eager that a minute in the car might as well been a lifetime. As we were driving...

Session Musician .Doc

...Session musicians What do they do? Go on tour with bands. Session musicians sometimes go on tour with bands; this involves getting paid a certain amount to play various gigs and concerts around a certain part of the world (or indeed all of it!). A session musician will either ask the company, or the company will ask the session musician to go and play either a whole tour, or just a few numbers in the tour. There is a large amount of gambling involved when it comes to being a session musician or hiring one. This is due to the fact that: a session musician gets pain a certain amount for the show (say £1,000), if the show is a total flop then the record label will lose money, BUT if the show is a roaring success then the record label will make mega bucks. The gamble for the session musician is that he or she can’t go back and claim a percentage of the profits if it is particularly good. The session musician gets paid a set amount and no more. Recording sessions. Quite often a session musician will go for a recording of a single or a few tracks. This will involve the producer talking with the session musician, and agreeing a set amount of pay, agreeing the song(s) that will be performed, and how long it will take, and possible whether it will be split over multiple sessions of not. After the terms have been agreed, the rehearsal and tuning will be done, this involves the band and session musician playing the first few seconds of each song, and adjusting their instruments until...

Nick is a long haired, free thinking, opinionative person. He is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in or to say what is on his mind. I asked Nick what made him want to become a musician and as he sat there at his computer with his guitar in hand, he looked at me and said “first and for most to express myself, secondly I want to make people feel the way my favorite musicians make me feel”. Diesel Strategies

...promote your product to a mass audience. Below the line is looking to reach a customer not a whole bunch of people, an example of a below the line is using catalogues, direct mail. An above the line strategy used by diesel is through commercials and billboards. The Television ad of diesel has probably the biggest impact to their company because everyone watches television. When people see their advertisement they will think about the product and if they like it they might go to a Diesel store and buy their products. Another above the line strategy that Diesel uses is music. They now have their own radio station and they sign bands that are unknown and give them a chance to be heard by people. This can help Diesel to promote their company because when the unsigned band becomes famous Diesel will sponsor them when they go to tours and concerts. Customer’s loves special offers, so when they see that Diesel has a special offer, they will go in the shop and possibly buy their products. Another below the line strategy is in-store sales. What Went Wrong with Adelitas Way's

...wanted this record to be the one that would push them in the ranks of major bands like Shinedown, Alterbridge, Three Days Grace, Five Finger Death Punch, and among other notable acts. With 7 songs written in late 2012, the band started writing and recording demos for various months. Despite, guitarist Keith Wallen leaving Adelitas Way in May of 2013 his departure did not stop the band from making their long anticipated release. The band’s original plan for Stuck was to release a total of 12 songs, 11 in your face songs and one song with a pop vibe a song called “Drive”. Pre-Production for the new record started on July 31st, 2013 with Nick Raskulenicz revealed as the producer. The band started recording in early September at a cabin in Rock Falcon Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. It wasn’t long until the band’s record label Virgin Records, got involved in the making of Stuck. After, reviewing the band’s track list and demos the label rejected the release of 2 songs “Undercover You” and “Deserve This”. Although the song “Drive” was the only intended track to have a pop side to it the label demanded new songs to be written that had a more alternative sound. Several New songs were written including the ballad “Undivided” and the melodic track “Something More” both songs were some of the last songs recorded and were added on Stuck to replace the 2 songs that were removed. For nearly 3 months the band vigorously worked on reinventing the new record in the way the label had...
