Abstract
The key points of my article will be centered around the history of the law enforcement agency I’m working for, which is Alabama Department of Game and Fish under the Alabama Department of Conservation. Also, I will be discussing the characteristics of my law enforcement agency by outlining how it works. The questions I will be asked are as follows. Are there any weaknesses in the agency’s promotion process? Do you think the process is done fairly? Describe the formal rules of your intern agency. Are these rules ever broken? What does the future look like for the organization? Will there be changes, growth, layoffs, or shrinkage? How does the organization fit into the larger picture of the criminal justice system as a whole? For my research, I will be asking numerous questions to my supervisor as well as those who I am tasked to work with. I will evaluate how the agency works from the ground up by going on ride-alongs with the various officers from the wildlife and fisheries departments.

Part 1
For my internship, I am at the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has four divisions: State Lands, Marine Resources, Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries, and State Parks. There are seven sections that are supporting the Alabama DNR: Diversity and Recruiting, Personnel and Payroll, Legal, Engineering, Information and Education, Information Technology, and Accounting. Alabama has always had a history of wildlife conservation. This history goes back as far as 1867, which was when the first laws were created to regulate fishing and hunting. The demographics are primarily middle aged people. One day you could be responding to a call on the causeway for a gator call, and the next you could be in south Baldwin on a night hunting case.
Part 2 My internship agency has numerous characteristics, as it is a multi faceted agency that covers a wide scope of operations throughout 11 different counties: Baldwin, Butler, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe, Washington and Wilcox. Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources can do anything from work night hunting, gator calls, checking fishing license, searching for fugitives, to writing tickets for speeding. This barely scratches the surface of what they are capable of doing. The top of my intern agency is the Captain, who receives instructions from the headquarters, which is located in Montgomery, Alabama. Montgomery generally gives Captain tasks to assign to the various game wardens or fisheries department employees based upon what the states agenda is in that certain region. Once Captain receives this information, he generally disseminates it to his Lieutenants who have to process the information and make it applicable the ones below them.
