When Joey told me he messaged Nick and was met with hostility, I was straightforward in telling him that it was unnecessary to tell Nick that he wouldn’t have a good chance to win an election for an executive board position. Ben and Joey responded in that they wanted to warn him of the possibility.
Reading Leadership on the Line by Ronald Heifetz allowed me to analyze my personal case as a leadership failure, in order to properly diagnose the systems and leadership dynamics at play during my time as a leader of this student organization. After careful consideration it was clear that our desire to run a much more relaxed and informal organization left us unprepared to manage certain structured formalities that eventually led to loss in Nick
