D. She does not hide behind her husband’s fame she is her own woman and has made a name for herself.
III. Reasons why Michelle Obama is a good Role Model
A. She started a program called “Let’s Move” that targets childhood obesity. The Wall Street Journal states that “fighting childhood obesity has become her top priority.”
B. She promotes preventative health care such as getting yearly checkups and staying healthy through patient education. She even had a meeting with nurses all over to help push health reform.

My Leadership role model paper is about Michelle Obama. Everyone knows her as the First Lady of the United States. Some may just say hey she is the “Presidents Wife”. There is more to Mrs. Michelle Obama. She is a wife, mother and a leader to All Americans. She has made a name for herself and has several different programs that she has helped kicked off. So without further hesitation I introduce to you Mrs. Michelle Obama.
Michelle Obama was born on January 17, 1964 in Chicago Illinois, where she grew up. She was no rich when she was younger, she was just very determined. She was so determined that, Michelle graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She then went on to Harvard Law school to become a Lawyer. A black girl from south side Chicago wasn’t suppose to graduate high school, less more go on to become a lawyer. She married the honorable Barack Obama in 1992. She is the Mother of two daughters, Malia and Natasha (Sasha).
Even though she was a lawyer in 2002, Michelle took a job at the University of Chicago Medical Center. There she was know as the executive director of community affairs. While holdig this position she reached out to the community and began several programs in the poorer communities. In 2005 she was promoted to Vice President at the University. Michelle still currently holds this job. She has taken a leave of absence due to being the First Lady.
One of the biggest things Michelle Obama has done is start a program that targets obesity in kids in the U.S. The program has helped to improve nutrition in schools. It also encourages kids to exercise more and more. I was watching the Disney Channel and saw Michelle on a commercial talking about nutrition with kids. That’s when I begin to look more into the program called “Let’s Move”. Her target goal for this program is to make health foods more available to kids who typically can’t afford it.
Michelle also teamed up with a few nurses to promote good health. She often meets with different nurses around the United States to discuss healthcare reform. She encourages nurses to teach their patients about preventive healthcare. This can be done through education and screenings. I love that she is all about healthcare and good health. She actually took the time to talk to nurses, this means a lot to me because nurses spend more time with the patients then the doctors.
See Michelle Obama is her own person. Michelle Obama is not just the “First Lady of the United States”. She is a leader, a role model and a trend setter for good health. Michelle Obama is what I call a phenomenal woman. She is also the type of servant leader she wants her followers young and old to succeed. She has done some great things and I know that she will do even more with time.

Leadership seems more team oriented; Leaders know how to rally people for a specific purpose. They know how to maintain team spirit at a high, see to it that the group satisfaction is realized, and keep the team cohesive and performing well.
