1.The team is not performing well due to several factors that considered essential for any efficient teamwork. * Lack of communication between the two essential poles of the team, the business and the production ones (Merz and Fogel) * There was lots hidden information due to informal meetings, and what made it worse is the fact that it took place under the presence of the team leader. * Members of the team were focusing on their departments’ goal rather than the bigger goal of the company. * No synergy between the team, since rather than meeting up and deciding the future steps together, they were trying to solve it individually to avoid any conflict especially with the marketing manager. * There was no involvement from any higher person in the hierarchy to control and evaluate the performance and decisions taken by the different members of the team. * The fact that all team members were chosen based on subjective reports sent by just one person, the HR, and where the new president haven’t sat with each member to discuss their willingness to perform the job and what could arise along the way. * The fact that previously the credit was taken by all members of the informal team, while now the motivation went down because for some, the credit was going to the team leader and president’s way. * Many conflicts were ahead, with everyone having to perform his work duties along with the duties of IntensCare system, and the fact that there was new comers and old employees that saw each others as a threat rather than a support. And the pressure was even higher with the date set by the president without discussing it with the chosen members. * Different individuals were not thinking on the same level, to a point where none of them but Karen Baio was taking ethics and the real purpose into consideration,

As well as the reading, I completed an assessment “What’s Your Leadership Style?” (About.com). This assessment, as well as my reading of the material identified my style as participative and situational leadership. Participative leadership involves engaging multiple group members in the decision making process, as well as problem solving. The leader does have the final choice in the decision.
