Vark a Guide to Learning Styles

...VARK: A Guide to Learning Styles Analysis Paper Cynthia Miller Grand Canyon University: NRS-429V February 7, 2016 VARK: A Guide to Learning Styles Analysis Paper “The term “learning styles” speaks to the understanding that every student learns differently. Technically, an individual’s learning style refers to the preferential way in which the students absorbs, processes, comprehends, and retains information,” (Teach, 2016). There are many learning style assessments that have emerged. One in particular, the VARK learning model, developed by Neil Fleming and Colleen Mills, consists of four categories. VARK stands for Visual, Auditory/Aural, Read/Write, and Kinaesthetic. The VARK assessment and outcomes focus on the ways in which people like facts provided to them and the ways in which they prefer to deliver their communication. The questions are based on situations where there are choices and decisions about how that communication might take place, (Vark, 2016). The author of this paper, which we will call Subject C, completed the 16 question VARK exam. This paper will confabulate and analyze the results of this VARK questionnaire based upon the responses of Subject C. Summary and Analysis of Learning Style The following are the scores of Subject C upon completion of the VARK questionnaire: Visual 8, Auditory/Aural 8, Read/Write 12, Kinaesthetic 8. Read/Write earned the highest score of a 12, followed by a three way tie with Visual, Auditory/Aural, and Kinaesthetic...

The Vark Guide to Learning Styles

...THE VARK GUIDE TO LEARNING STYLES DAVIDSON EWUZIE Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona FAMILY-CENTERED HEALTH PROMOTION NRS-429V-O508 THE VARK GUIDE TO LEARNING STYLES Learning styles refer to the ways and manner in which individuals absorb, comprehend, process and retain relevant information. Each person is unique, therefore people have various different ways in which they digest and process new information. The idea of individualized learning styles has gained a lot of recognition in education theory and classroom management strategy. In the year 1987, the educational theorist, Neil Fleming, came up with the VARK model of student learning. This VARK model has gained worldwide acclaim and even till date, is being used widely to categorize individuals and their preferred learning styles. VARK is an acronym for: V- Visual, A- Aural, R- Read/Write, K- Kinesthetic Visual learners make use of diagrams, videos, posters, slides, flowcharts, etc. in order to understand and process information. They learn better using their eyes. Aural learners utilize resources such as tape recorders, attending classes, group discussions, etc. to digest information. They learn using their ears. In other words, they are very good listeners. Read/write learners employ the services of textbooks, handouts, essays, glossaries etc. in their bid to get new information. They assimilate optimally through reading voraciously and writing. Kinesthetic learners enjoy making field trips, field tours...

Learning Guide 11 Saint Joes

...1. Globalization leads to the spread of democracy, rights and western ideals because globalization is making the world a smaller place through social media, western pop culture, and trade. When the people of a country ruled by dictatorship see places like America and Canada with a democracy they see what they are missing and want that. Through globalization and mainly social media countries ruled by a dictatorship have started revolts, a key example of this is Seryia. Seryia has started a civil war to gain real democracy over their country and not just a dictator. A major part of this civilian revolt was created over social media networks such as Twitter or Facebook to coardinate the rebellions. Rights are spread through social media as well, people all over are calling for gay marriage rights on the internet. Western ideals are spread through a lot of forms of pop culture. Through movies, Youtube, or TV western culture gets pushed on a lot of other cultures. The way we dress, our ideals, our comedy everything gets broadcasted world wide for everyone to see and that shapes people. 2. The spread of democracy, rights and other western ideals is a good thing because a lot of those things benefit society in many ways. The spread of democracy helps countries who had a dictatorship in many ways because it helps the citizens actually get what they want and to not be treated poorly from their government. An example of this is Syria, they are revolting against their government because...
