Lemon Boots (extra credit paper) For this extra credit assignment I attended the play Lemon Boots. I don’t really go to plays too often so I had no idea what to expect. The play was at Long Beach State in the Studio Theatre. In this play there were three things that really stood out in my mind. Those were the stage setting, the story behind the play, and the end of the play.
The first thing that really stood out in my mind was the stage when I walked in. I thought it was going to be like an auditorium, a stage with seats in front of it. To my surprise when I walked in the stage was in the middle with the seating going around it in a circle. There were two rows of chairs on top of one row that was like a cement bench people were sitting on. I really liked the lighting throughout the play. It went really good with the music. Another thing I liked was that the play involved the audience. It was only for a few minutes but it was pretty cool, really kept me into the play. The second thing that stood out, but in a bad way, was the whole meaning of the play. Most of the play there was no verbal language. If someone were to talk it was a scream or it was in Spanish, so I didn’t really understand what was going on. Too me it just looked like everyone running around doing some crazy dancing. The characters would turn into animals and then humans. Some of the symbolic meaning I would get, and then there was parts where I was like, what is going on. The play only lasted for like an hour. At the end I went and asked one of the characters what was this supposed to be all about and he replied, there is no true meaning; it is whatever you make it as to be. If I were to guess, it looked like the life cycle of a tree or a plant. The last thing that really stood out was the end of the play. After all this confusion about what just

...Argueta Theater 113 November 2012 Lemmon Boots Lemmon boots was a very artistic play compared to the other plays I have seen this semester. The unspoken story portrayed by movements of the actors really showcased the multiple meanings the play incased. The meaning that I believe that was most relevant to me was the journey Lemon had through the post apocalyptic scenarios. The journey that she ventured on was that of trying to find herself in the world that had now become abstract. This made it difficult for her to find the person she was since she was, in a way, traveling through different era’s in society. The play crated a road map though the different eras by taking Lemon and the audience in a time travel warp starting from what technological world we live in today. This exemplified that Lemon was/is one of is and journeyed through the times as we, the audience, are living in now. Lemon finds herself trying to understand the effects of technology and the harm it has created on mankind. After the “apocalypse.” We can see that she was being eaten by some soft of dinosaur creature. Lemon seems to be in a state of trance where she doesn’t know her place in this ancient and almost mystical world. She tried to find shelter and tries to understand what is going on in the world she has been trapped in. Both of these experiences that Lemon go through are great examples of the meaning of the Lemon Boots. The audience witnesses that Lemon is not only confused of the tribulations...

I don’t always need music to study there are times when it just helps when redoing notes, but not while trying to read information to be retained. My second style was Naturalistic. I enjoy the outdoors or at least an outdoor setting inside if possible. I have moved my desk next to a window with plants hanging as well as sitting around my desk. I allow my pets to join me in the room, but I pet them and sit them down on their pillow or close to my feet. I enjoy the natural lighting from the window instead of the harsh desk lamp at night. The breeze that blows through the window is relaxing to me. I keep a diffuser of lemon oil going most of the time, lemon smell makes me happy and peaceful. I tried to set up my area that makes me comfortable since I knew Nursing School would require me to sit and study away from distractions at home. While spending a lot of time in that space I wanted to make it appealing to me, not dreading to be there. I hope that this will put me in the right frame of mind while studying and help me relax, retain information and learn. My last style was Visual. Reducing Risk

...Assessment 1- Reducing Risk, Company: R.M Williams Functional RM Williams clothes and boots are steeped in history and the company has been trading since 1932 and has coined itself as “The Bush Outfitter”. Their functionality has always been core to their business. RM Williams is unique as they manufacture, distribute and retail their products and brand. They have been Australian designed and made, with high quality materials and great cuts. At the launch of Regional Express Airlines (or REX as it is known), the staff, Pilots, and flight attendants all wore RM Williams clothing and footwear. This moved RM Williams from just country clothing consumed by country people to clothing consumed by business people, and a business. Not only was the airlines bringing country people to the cities, it was bringing their fashion too. Perhaps RM Williams was expanding their target market from predominantly rural and country people to city people, and further segmentation to the urban young professional. The target market shift may have been due to economic forces – RM Williams looking for more stability from a city market, not just from people from the land, who had good seasons and bad. What was once a utilitarian need being met, may now be a hedonic need being met – or both. Physical The distribution of RM Williams clothing and boots has also changed with the times. From its humble beginnings of a mail order business, to only in a limited amount of stores and presence in Myers...

...started with Nathan Swartz from Boston, Massachusetts. Swartz was a determined and hard-working gentleman who worked his way up from an apprentice boot stitcher in 1918 until he owned part interest in the Abington Shoe Company in 1952. Three years later he became the sole owner, and quickly brought his kids on board. The Abington Shoe Company mostly manufactured shoes for other companies until 1965 when they introduced injection-molding technology to the footwear industry. This innovative technology fused the sole to the leather upper without stitching, enabling the production of a virtually waterproof boot. This waterproof boot gained popularity quickly, and was named the "Timberland." Due to its immense popularity, in 1978, the Abington Shoe Company officially changed their name to the Timberland Shoe Company. With their roots firmly placed in the rugged boot market, the Timberland Shoe Company started to expand its collection to include casual classics, boat shoes, and eventually, clothing. Everything in the line-up continued to display a commitment to quality, and thanks to the urban fashion community in the late 80s, Timberland began to look equally at home on the city streets as it did in the great outdoors. Today, the Timberland Shoe Company is still thriving in the footwear market. They even introduced an exclusive collection of boots and shoes appropriately named, the Abington Collection. This heritage collection is rooted in tradition and consists of classic styles with...
