Cold heading steel is used for producing standard and non-standard fasteners, such as screw, bolts, nuts, etc. Cold heading steel such as SWRCH35K attributes to higher value output, which has good cold deformability, high fatigue strength and is suitable for heat treatment. For these reasons, many Iron &Steel Groups begin to pay attention to its quality control. In this research, the quality of cold heading steel SWRCH35K from XuanHua Iron and Steel Co. Ltd was used to analyze, and the same product from other company was used for comparison purposes. Scanning electron microscopy and optical microscopy were used to analyze the inclusions and microstructure of the cold heading steel from two companies. Besides that, measurements of total oxygen and acid-soluble aluminum contents were also carried out in this research. By the experimental analysis, it is found that there is a gap between the products from Xuangang and the products from outstanding domestic manufacturer. Mainly, it is more serious in the control of the inclusions in cold heading steel, and also the carbon segregation of the wire rod surface.
