At the end of 45 minutes, students will be able to:

1. Work as a group and define an elegy
2. Communicate well with the group mates and write an elegy and share it to the class
3. Site what emotions are conjured by the poem

III. Instructional Materials Handouts/ Copies of the poem “An Elegy for a Woman of no Importance”

Recapitulate their learning from the previous lesson. C. Motivation
Copies of the poem will be distributed and the class and will be divided into two (2) groups. One will be the Geniuses and the other will be the group Thinkers. Thinkers will be the group to ask questions regarding the meanings of unfamiliar words they find in the poem while the Geniuses will respond to their questions. D. Presentation
After the activity, the teacher will ask students to think of the intention of the poet in writing such kind of poetry. Two (2) representatives of each group will explain this in front.

E. Explanation
Representatives are expected to point out the emotions conveyed by the author in the poem. By this manner, they have already generalized through proper communication that the poem expresses sorrow because of a loss.

F. Generalization
Ask students to summarize their learning from the activities. Students are expected to answer that to correctly get the message of the poem, as a listener, we should be active and sympathic upon hearing others’ own interpretation.

G. Application
Students will work with their group and think about a loss that they have experienced that would a fitting subject for an elegy. Thinks about images that would be effective for expressing this loss and creating an appropriate mood. H. Evaluation
Out from the ideas they shared as a group, the students will create an elegy and share it to the class. V. Assignment Pick out the words and phrases which are more laden than the others and explain what they learn.

...COLLAPSE There are a variety of problem solving methods for disciplinary issues that teachers experience with students. When a teacher is actively handling an issue with students, peer mediation can be a productive way to handle conflict. Peer mediation can be effective with a variety of ages. Working in Kindergarten, I couldn’t use this strategy initially. Now, I often use this strategy. The reason I have not been able to use peer mediation all year is because students are often time learning policies and procedures for the first time. They have to learn how to positively interact with peers and to treat other children as they would want to be treated. At this point in the year, I have several students that serve as “super citizens” that I often turn to when I can’t seem to get through to a troubled or disruptive student. These student(s) reinforce positive behavior support with their classmate(s) that are having an outburst, not compliant, or those that have a disability in some cases. To help ensure a positive behavior support behavior system, peer mediation can help a teacher create a sense of group accountability for student achievement to couple individual accountability.
