Let's Not Go To Mars Rhetorical Summary

Tianna. Willbrook talks about why humans shouldn’t go to Mars in the near future in the article “Let’s Not Go to Mars: Why a Staffed Mission Is Impractical”. Going to Mars is no doubt an amazing achievement as the author said. However, there are many obstacles and great risks for going to Mars as she mentioned: Financial concerns, health risks to astronauts, and the expertise needed to make the mission successful. The obstacles are greater than humans can handle, at least for now. I think it is still early to prepare for a mission to Mars, so I agree on most of the author’s argument. The author said that the cost of a staffed mission to Mars is unbelievably high as hundreds of billions of dollars. Even though going to mars will make us understand our own world even more, I think it is more logical to spend these billions of dollars on doing more researches on Earth and helping people that need homes, education, and jobs. Perhaps these …show more content…
I disagree a little bit with “are effective at collecting data”. It may be true that crafts and probes are effective at collecting data. However, there is a limit to what they can do since they are only machines that can’t sense everything around them like humans, and what would happen if they broke out there? That’s millions of dollars gone forever. However, it is still much better than risking a human life.

In conclusion, there are many obstacles and great risks for going to Mars. However, a mission to Mars is something humans must do in the future. In my opinion, I think the mission to Mars should be delayed until much more advanced technology is discovered with much cheaper cost and less risks to astronauts. For now, I think the billions of dollars should be spent on fixing, developing, and saving our planet and

Asked to give an example by commenting on the weather, Greenspan replied, I would generally expect that today in Washington, D.C., the probability of changes in the weather is highly uncertain. But we are monitoring the data in such a manner that we will be able to update people on changes that are important.* Page 70 2/9/2016 12:17 PM This tells us nothing about the weather, of course, and was not intended to. Many times, though, we run across similarly complicated examples of speech or writing that do seem to be intended to inform us. For example, Allan Bloom, the famous American educator who authored The Closing of the American Mind, which was read (or at least purchased) by millions, wrote in that book: If openness means to “go with the flow,” it is...

PREFACE Rationale We agreed to produce the instructor’s manual for the sixth edition of A First Look at Communication Theory because it’s a first-rate book and because we enjoy talking and writing about pedagogy. Yet when we recall the discussions we’ve had with colleagues about instructor’s manuals over the years, two unnerving comments stick with us: “I don’t find them much help”; and (even worse) “I never look at them.” And, if the truth be told, we were often the people making such points! With these statements in mind, we have done some serious soul-searching about the texts that so many teachers—ourselves...

...C h a p t e r 1 Prewriting GETTING STARTED (OR SOUP-CAN LABELS CAN BE FASCINATING) For many writers, getting started is the hardest part. You may have noticed that when it is time to begin a writing assignment, you suddenly develop an enormous desire to straighten your books, water your plants, or sharpen your pencils for the fifth time. If this situation sounds familiar, you may find it reassuring to know that many professionals undergo these same strange compulsions before they begin writing. Jean Kerr, author of Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, admits that she often finds herself in the kitchen reading soup-can labels—or anything—in order to prolong the moments before taking pen in hand. John C. Calhoun, vice president under Andrew Jackson, insisted he had to plow his fields before he could write, and Joseph Conrad, author of Lord Jim and other novels, is said to have cried on occasion from the sheer dread of sitting down to compose his stories. To spare you as much hand-wringing as possible, this chapter presents some practical suggestions on how to begin writing your short essay. Although all writers must find the methods that work best for them, you may find some of the following ideas helpful. But no matter how you actually begin putting words on paper, it is absolutely essential to maintain two basic ideas concerning your writing task. Before you write a single sentence, you should always remind yourself that 1. You have some valuable ideas to tell your reader,...

"We were renting rooms in a big house with a shared kitchen. I was cooking breakfast when I looked up and saw this man-Victor- walk into the room. I had the strangest reaction. My legs wanted to carry me to him, but my head was telling me to stay away. The feelings were so strong that I felt faint and had to sit down."
