I decided to pick letter 25 of Screwtape and align it with the social teaching of “Call to family, community, and participation.” In letter 25 Screwtape draws attention to the problem by having the patient in a social group that focuses only on Christianity. In the social teaching our friends and family are where you learn to relate with each other, sacrifice for one another and love each other. In letter 25 Screwtape explains to wormwood that he needs to take the patient mind off the temporal realities and fixate it on real life events. In the social teaching God wants us to be together as a community and look out for each other, and If we get distracted lead them back on the right path and show them the best way to go.

In Genesis God said “ it is not good for the man to be alone”. Families are important for the basic units of society. God wants us to promote one body with christ so we are called to care for all. US Bishop said “ it's important to let all the people to participate in forming our communities”. In letter 25 Screwtape was upset because the patient was surrounding himself with merely christian. In the social teaching it states you should be social in the community and within the church. I compared these together because the patient is doing the right thing and, screwtape is trying to to get the patient to do the opposite of what the social teaching is telling us to do. God want you to surround yourself with people who is going to bring you up and put you on the right path. In the end we have to make the right choices and do the right
