Q1)How long have you known the applicant and in what capacity?

I feel pleased to write this testimonial for Ritabrata Chakrabarti whom I have known for the entire period of his undergraduate studies (2003 – 2007) at Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM). I taught him several courses on mathematics.

Q2) What do you consider the applicant's most outstanding talent or ability?

As mentioned before, Ritabrata had taken several courses in the field of mathematics under my guidance. Consequently, I had numerous instances to assess his academic potential. During this period of interaction, I have found him to be extremely attentive, intellectually independent and focused towards his aspirations. He has also displayed consistency in his academic performance and commendable maturity in his learning curve.
Academically, Ritabrata has been one of my best students from his class. Despite this, he has remained humble and focused and strives to put in that extra effort in all his activities. He has displayed significant sincerity towards his assignments and his commitment to get them completed on time. This has indeed been much appreciated by several faculty members within the department. His inquisitiveness coupled with his grit and determination gives me enough confidence in his ability to pursue education at the highest level.
Personally, Ritabrata has always appeared to be a responsible person. I have always found him to understand and appreciate the significance of discipline and timeliness. He also possesses an extremely affable and supportive outlook. I believe that all of this taken together makes him a very promising student as well as an enterprising individual.

Q3) What do you consider the applicant's chief liabilities and weaknesses?

In his early days at college, I have seen Ritabrata to be a bit aggressive while trying to convey his point, be it academics or other. Though he was right in his opinion in majority of the cases, still I felt the aggressiveness could have been toned down a little. But he understood his fault and worked on it later.
Ritabrata is a very energetic person, but sometimes becomes restless in pursuit of trivial matters. Although he is very sanguine and well composed about what he is doing, I feel that sometimes he stretches himself too far in restlessness and deviates a little from giving his best performances. This may be a reason for some of his under-achievements.
