He seemed to be struggling in the kindergarten class, 5 months in, so his grandmother/guardian asked the tutor to assess and instruct him to bring him up to speed. He was anxious to learn as his classmates shunned him and called him dumb. He did not attend pre-kindergarten classes. He achieved a perfect score on the Beginning Sounds and the Phoneme Blending Assessment but only 69% on the Yopp-Singer Test. The result from the Yopp-Singer test shows emerging phonemic awareness.
