Level of Awareness of Second Year Civil Engineering Students Towards Civil Engineering Course in Southern Luzon State University Lucban, Quezon
INTRODUCTION
Within the context of the society of people, people are up to survival. The reason that Herbert Spencer’s coined the word “Survival of the Fittest”. He proposed the theory that societies adapt to their surroundings in order to compete and survive difficulties in life. Through education these difficulties lessen, unlike without the latter cause. According to Lardizabal (1988), education is the change for the better. The goal of education is to change man to be better mentally, physically, socially, morally, and spiritually. With the aid of education people are to be treated rationalized individuals. They can do things that an ordinary man can’t do through education. Having these goals of education, the only difficulty with regards to this innovation is making of decision in entering this development. On other hand, decision making is a task wherein the person must select one option from a number of alternatives, there is game amount of information available with respect to the option, the time frame is relatively longer, and the choice is associated with uncertainty, that is, it is not necessary clear which is the best option (Wickens, Lee, Liu, and Godon Becker, 2004).
Choosing a course is an example of decision making. The chooser, the student, is subject to select which one will be in line with their expertise. Prior to this, the chooser must consider the features and classes of decision-making. These features are uncertainty, familiarity and expertise, time, and classes of decision-making research (Wickens and Hollands, 2000).
In this society of today, surviving in the chosen field of expertise has a direct relationship to the student’s awareness on its specific field. It has also a great impact to their
