According to Levito’s website Leviton was founded by Evser and Isidor Leviton in 1906. After migrating from Russia to the United States, the two opened up a small tinsmithing business producing mantle tips used for gas lighting. Today it manufactures more than 2 million parts per day worldwide. Their portfolio has more than 25,000 different products which can be found in over 100 countries.
From its simple beginnings more than a century ago, manufacturing one item – gas mantle tips – Leviton has evolved into one of the largest privately-held global providers of electrical wiring devices, data connectivity solutions and lighting energy management systems. Donald J. Hendler has been President of Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc., since 2005 and has also been its Chief Executive Officer since September 2007. In a career spanning more than 37 years, Mr. Hendler has served key positions at Leviton. Mr. Hendler served as Executive Vice President of Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc., where he directed strategic planning, human resources and distribution initiatives, as well as sales, marketing and product development for Leviton North America and subsidiary, American Insulated Wire.
