The novel Luna by Julie Anne Peters is about a transgender female named Liam. Liam’s true identity is named Luna because of her only being able to show herself at night. The only person Liam/Luna confides in is Regan, his heterosexual female sister. Regan lets Liam/Luna consume her as she always goes to her rescue and is the only one Liam has to talk to. Liam meets a T-girl named Terri Lynn who had SRS and through pictures and sharing of her transition stories Liam sees that it is possible to have the life she believes she was born to have. Many flashbacks are shown throughout the novel that indicate that it was known at a young age that Liam was meant to be a girl, for instance he asked for a bra for his ninth birthday and threw a tantrum when he did not get it. Jack, Regan and Liam’s father has a selective blindness to what is going on in Liam’s life. Jack wants Liam to play sports and build cars, to bond with him like father-sons do but does not realize that it is not possible as Liam is not the son he wanted.…show more content… Yet, Luna is happier being herself and decides to come out to her best friend and family.
