Lying seems to be part of our daily lives because everyone has lied at least once in their lifetime. Lying is either done deliberately or involuntarily because, sometimes, it is hard for us to control our lies. People sometimes lie on purpose for selfish reasons or in order to help others. Although people believe that lying is never to be acceptable, it is hard to control what seems to be human nature. More than just being acceptable, lying used to assist another human being is morally correct. In the Unvanquished granny uses multiple lies to help the boys escape from unfortunate circumstances. “You are mistaken” She says, “There are no children in this house nor this place” (Unvanquished 28). But to stop them from being attacked or hurt from the Yankees she lies to them saying that she doesn’t know what they are talking about. Granny lies to help her loved ones, and this is seen as good. The reason for this is because people in general try to prevent their loved ones from being put in a situation in which will hurt them. Because of this they can employ any means possible to help. Even though Granny knows this is wrong and it’s an act of sin, this doesn’t seem to stop her from protecting the people she cares about. So does this mean that even though you know of that lying is wrong you shouldn’t do it at all? Lying in this kind of context would be acceptable because you’re helping another person.
