With each experience affecting a person in a different way, the day my life changed forever was August 10, 1990 when my beautiful baby girl was born. Bringing her into the world was the most life-changing and memorable experience, I have ever had. I can’t think of anything else that would compare. I was twenty-three years old, unemployed, not married, and hadn’t always made smart decision with my life. I was petrified of having to raise her all alone, how could I with no money or strong support system. It had an enormous impact on me in many ways, changing the way I look at the world and connecting me with people and events far beyond my formerly limited experience. It gave me a new perspective on life. I am extremely glad to have had this opportunity. It was a wonderful experience on multiple levels. It challenged me, expanded me intellectually, and socially. I feel that this experience has had an immense impact on me. This program was created to know the performance of student in different field of science. Through this program I had first-hand access to some of the brightest young minds in the country. The sharing of ideas among students with their experiences in science, and in other areas as well was enlightening. I felt like I had the chance to absorb knowledge from those around me. This environment spread beyond the students and also included the faculty and speakers. We had access to incredible faculty who were able to give much to the experience and share their own science insights. The program also brought in speakers and other science professionals from other countries that were at the top of their respective fields. This workshop gave me many memorable experiences, taught me much about science, gave me real access to the movers, and shakers of the science in different countries, an experience beyond any available to me anywhere else. The thought of joining the Army was crazy and why would anybody want to join. Serving my country, I did not mind doing, but the military service was not the way.
