...Frank Bassetti It was a warm summer evening as I drove home from work. I was taking in the beautiful Alaskan scenery and thinking of how far that I had come with my life. Feelings of thankfulness ran through my thoughts as I remembered all of the help that I had received during hard times. Those times seemed to be so very long ago, but yet so vivid in my memory. The ability to lift my head up gave me a different perspective on life. It was that much easier to relax and focus while taking in the beauty around me. Driving home that day I can remember that there were a few puffy clouds in the sky that they reminded me of cotton balls. There was a gentle wind off of the Pacific Ocean that carried the smell of a fisherman’s hard day at sea. Along with that breeze came the reminder of winter from the chill that followed. Off in the distance I could see a Subway sign. Instantly, I had a vision of freshly baked, warm, fluffy, honey wheat bread topped with crisp, juicy vegetables and partially heated moist, tender chicken teriyaki. Since my taste buds had been awakened, I had no choice but to pull in and eat. I walked in and right away I noticed that there was a little boy up against the ordering glass. The little guy was rocking from foot to foot in a sideways motion with great enthusiasm. He had on some frayed Wrangler jeans, and a tee-shirt that was too small for his quickly growing body. His oily head of hair was reflecting the incandescent lights above, and his eyes were slightly...

...start out by explaining to the customer what Microsoft Access is. Microsoft Access is software that manages databases. The database collects, organizes, and stores information about things. The second thing I would do is introduce some basic terms of Microsoft Access. A database table looks a lot like a spreadsheet. There are rows and columns like a spreadsheet, which makes it easier to convert a spreadsheet into a database. Each row and column in a table is referred to as a record. Records are where the information that you are entering is stored. The rows hold one type of information; the columns hold a different type of information. Reports are the data that is processed in the tables. Basically, if you have a datasheet made for yearly spending, you can look up a report for whatever year you’re looking for or the current year. Macros in Microsoft Access are a type of programming that helps add functionality to a database. Macros can help simplify things if you have enough experience with it. One example of how Macros can help is, when a person types a certain command, a report can open, a query can be ran, a report can be closed and so on. This programming basically makes life easier by using simple commands. The description of these would vary because depending on how much they know about technology, they may or may not be able to understand these explanations. In order to determine their experience level, one can generally tell by the way the customer...

...still and passed by at the same time. Miss Lou Dixon owns and runs that restaurant in the middle of the town of Sunbright, Tennessee. Miss Lou has been in business at that location since 1954. Even though the place looks a little squalid, it is not for lack of care; in fact, Lou is proud of how clean she keeps her place. She has often been heard to say, with the strongest East Tennessee accent, “It doesn’t matter how poor a body is. They can be cleaned.” She is proud of her “A” rating and prominently displays it. It is not a fancy restaurant. The hundreds of booted loggers, railroad workers, and oil field roughnecks trekking through have worn the carpet thin. Chunks are missing from the carpet at the favorite tables of the workers. The hardened veneer on some of the tables is missing a notch here and there. The paint on the walls has cracks and there is a perennial smell of hamburgers permeating the air. The casual observer could be forgiven for thinking the place is about to fold financially; instead, what we found that night was well camouflaged center of social activity and the finest, most accurate, information available. When entering the door at Lou’s, two things are immediately noticeable: the place is rarely empty and seems to consist of a maze of rooms. The first room, through the door, is the main part of the restaurant. There is another, rarely used, dining room off to the right. It was added during the oil well boom of the seventies. Through the main dining room...

Who made this work? (Be sure to write down details that will help you research further on the internet or in published materials) Jitish Kallat 3. What does the artist do to influence your perception with this piece? (What is the context? what visual cues add information?) The artist depicts the phases of the moon with what looks like chips. After further researched I learned it was small comfort foods like pita, tortilla, and injera. 4. In what way(s) does this piece demonstrate an interaction of culture and art? (Do your best to identify this, there usually isn't really any one answer) This art piece takes food that we eat and creates a story out of it. Although the art piece seems pretty simple and meaningless, until you really stand there and stare at the wonder of what it depicts. 5. How does the work reflect that cultural association? (Does it contain symbols, text, design elements, content, etc. that reflects a specific perspective?) The use of food that he would eat and is apart of his culture is an element of the art piece. The moon shape represents the journey of life through the phases of the moon. 6. Explain why you chose this particular item: (what is it that caught your interest or attention - give me the details!) ...with no indication of its true character. The building is comprised of two restaurants a pub, which is located on the west side, and a Chinese restaurant located on the east side. It appears tiny in size, as does the parking area. There is beautiful green ivy intertwined on white lattice leading up to the front of the building. This ivy wall conceals a small, enclosed outside seating area for when the weather is nice. I then round the corner and a big, bright red door is waiting to welcome all who enter. The atmosphere inside is a drastic contrast to the outside. The walls vibrate with life! There is a line waiting just inside the door and the place is completely packed. There is so much chatter. One cannot detect a single conversation from another as they all blend as one massive, noisy conversation. As I entered, a polite young woman explained it would be a moment before a table is ready. The interior is huge, which is very deceiving from the exterior. Lighting is moderate yet comfortable and bright enough to read a menu and to see others easily. The back wall is comprised of the kitchen and a massive, beautiful wood bar. Not one bar stool is empty as it seats roughly 15 patrons. The pub is famous for its great burgers and what a better accompaniment then one of the 18 different brews on tap. The walls are a beautiful...

...Crumbs From the Table of Joy: Outline/ Draft The setting is blue when they walk in. Literally and figuratively because there is mention of the death in the family and the father is wailing; blue in color, and blue in emotion. The family is temporarily broken and the father is trying to keep them together but all he is really doing is pulling them apart. After a short silence in one scene, the youngest walks over to the radio- sulking at it. The father is reading and trying to pay attention to something else but clearly sulking over the wife. Ernie, the oldest has positioned herself in such a way that the audience can see she is basking at the photo of her mother and in a state of nostalgia. Then in walks Aunt Lily… starts off with much excitement. The girls have never seen a woman like this in their life. When things start to settle down, a little bit of time passes and there is happy jazz music playing while the aunt struts around her new ‘home’ in her robe. I made a side note that in this scene her big fluffy fur jacket is draped over top of all the other family members jackets on the coat rack. I am not sure if this was intentional or not, but I feel it was intentionally placed to show that she has “taken over” in a way. As the play progresses so does Lily. She is drinking more, clearly depressed and not as “upbeat” and put-together as she tried to previously portray herself. We see this when she sells the suit she seemed to care so deeply for, just for a little...

The product was rated the most preferred in terms of taste, appearance and acceptability. It was recommended that further improvement of appearance, texture and taste should be done to make the product better. ...long table that sits six people. We were next to this young couple that seemed as if they were having the time of their life. Chili’s always has a great environment whenever I go. I had never been without eating with my parents or just one other person. I knew it would be different, especially with this particular group of friends. Chili’s had the T.V’s turned to the Arkansas vs. Alabama football game. That made the environment even more exciting. Brenda, our waitress, was a tiny older lady with a frizzy bouncy ponytail. She was filled with energy and had the biggest smile on her face. She asked us what drinks we would like and I said water. Nea got lemonade and Corry and Garrett both got strawberry lemonade. As Brenda walked away to get our drinks, we all started looking at the menus that were on the table. Nea and I decided to do the “2 for $20” deal. When our waitress came back with our drinks, we told her we were ready to order. She got out her white notepad and pencil and waited for us to start. “We’re doing the “2 for $20,” and we want Texas cheese fries for the appeti…” “Okay! Let me go put that in,” Brenda cut me off before I could even finish the rest of our order. We all looked puzzled as she hurried away to the back. Corry got a little annoyed because they were doing the same thing we were. He wondered why she wouldn’t ask everyone at the table before hurrying off. Brenda seemed to be gone for a long time. Her ponytail bouncing as she pranced from table to...

...Therefore, here we go through and understand the concept of relational databases and use of tables designed to manage the data for the problem cases in our daily life. A relational database is a defined group of data items systematized and controlled as a set of formally defined tables from which the collected and unmanageable data can be reassembled or accessed in various different techniques deprived of having to restructure the pre-arranged database tables (Rouse, n.d.). According to Codd (1982), “Relational processing entails treating whole relationships as operands. Its primary purpose is loop-avoidance, an absolute requirement for end users to be productive at all, and a clear productivity booster for application programmers” (p.298). It comprises of designed data tables that are connected together in some important way. For instance, consider an organization that offers items to clients. The organization keeps up a database of the items it offers. Every item has a one of a kind code so it can be uniquely recognized. The item database comprises of a table, and each item is a record field in this table. The second database the organization keeps up is a database of its clients. Every client has a single code and also their address and name. The third one is a defined database of requests put by clients. Every order request likewise has an exceptional/unique code. These relational tables of the databases are associated with each other through a pre-defined...

...What I Call Home In life everyone has their own dreams, whether it be about cars, houses, or their career. Most people I know dream to have the biggest and luxurious houses but I was always satisfied with mine. My house is not a tiny apartment nor a huge mansion but a two story, plain brown brick cozy house with white painted doors. The front yard is decorated with beautiful flowers; roses, lilies, violets, dahlias, daisies and much more, my mother usually plant them. She says, "Flowers are a pleasure and perfection of nature, and they give many things to people, and it does not matter if you are rich or poor, they give you a wonderful world which makes you feel happy". It definitely makes her and our neighbors happy. She shares the seeds of her flowers with the neighbors since they love and always compliment her garden. Walking through the front doors of my house after a long day of school always makes me feel so relaxed. There is always a smell of fresh vanilla or brown sugar candles the moment I walk through my white painted door. As I walk up the stairs and I see four bedrooms and a washroom. There is one bedroom for each of us in the family; my parents, brother, sister and myself. I usually go straight to my room when I get home. The walls in my room are painted a nice light green. There’s my bed in the middle of the room, a desk, night table and a closet. I have always wished I had a walk in closet but I'm comfortable with what I have now, this closet does me just fine...
