Fingers tapped against the keyboard of the laptop to the beat of “Eternal Youth” by RUDE as Lilibeth tilted her head. Amber eyes drilling holes at the blank screen in front of her as Lilibeth attempted to create an attention grabber for her college essay. With a sigh, Lilibeth rubbed at her eyes while letting her head fall backwards. She felt irritation fill her at the fact that she had stared at a blank screen for over thirty minutes yet couldn’t think of a starting sentence for her paper. Clicking her tongue, Lilibeth stared at the roof in frustration. She wouldn’t deny the fact that her greatest weakness when it comes to writing would be starting the essay. That was the year she noticed that being detailed in her essays was her strong suit when it came to writing. As everyone sat in their creative writing class in their sophomore year, panicking over whether they would pass the FCAT writes or fail, Lilibeth simply sat at her desk. Cool, calm, and collected as she tapped her “Kingdom Hearts” #2 lead pencil against the surface of the desk. Ready to get the test over with as she was confident that she would get a passing grade after practicing on her writing for months. The test packets were handed out and the test had begun. Lilibeth had sixty minutes to write about how Martin Luther King Jr. inspired her. Lilibeth took her time, forgoing the planning sheet and simply starting to write. Forty minutes into the test, Lilibeth had begun to panic as she noticed that she was running out of space and was only just finishing her third paragraph. Throwing caution to the wind, Lilibeth simply shrugged her shoulders and continued to
