When considering what factors go into memorializing an event or person and in creating a monument, groups or agency’s must consider, what is the purpose of the monument, what message will it provey, what location should the monument be placed, and think about how much will it cost to create a monument and gain enough money to keep it standing.

The Lincoln memorial for example is made of marble and sits in such a way that it is catching to the eyes. But this isn’t easy to achieve because everything has a price, Source D the savannah Memorial Park is a great example of how price plays a role in a monuments creation of future destruction. “Unless something happens and we get the money from somewhere, I don’t know how we’re going to make it.” This shows how if the memorial dosen’t receive the proper funding its existence wont last and there for its message wont be conveyed. “More than 2000 graves fill the cemetery dead as early as 1879… If the cemetery was sold for development, the association or developer would have to move the graves to another location and notify every relative. That task would cost millions ofdollors.” Do to the monument not having the a strong enough message or location the monument isn’t getting enough funding to keep it up and running but also doesn’t generate enough money to moving it elsewhere putting it into a limbo of both unimportance and a decaying
