All countries have had a war against each other for example, North,South Korea and India, But this book, about Sudan shows how a boy got through the war. This book, A Long Walk To Water written by LInda Sue Park, based on a true story about a boy who survived war. The boy’s name was Salva, and he faced several challenges, and troubles in his life because of the war, but there were people,foods,and water that helped him to endure.
Uncle has helped him survive the different and hard environments. Without his uncle Salva wouldn’t have made it to the refugee camp. Salvas was alone the first couple of weeks, then he found a family which gave him hope. Salva felt more safe, and he felt he was at home with his uncle. “We are together now, so I’ll look after you “(35) said, his uncle. “Honey! This night, they would feast!”(25) The people started starving because they haven’t ate anything then they found honey. Though they got stung it was still worth it. The fisherman gave them candy canes,fish, and fruits, for the first time they were full. After crossing part of the river they got food and rested with the fishermen. Then they filled water in their jugs and containers because there next journey was the hardest, the desert. If Salva hadn’t gotten water he would have died from thirst in the desert. Without these foods and water he wouldn’t have made his journey, but died.
There are few factors that helped Salva to survive in his journey in the book. Salva faced very hard, and difficult environments. Though it was though with the help of his Uncle, and his two families he wouldn’t have made it. He had his uncle, and families to survive in both mentally and physically. Of course without the foods, and water he would have died in starvation ,and thirst. There are objects ,and people that support us in our hard times. We should also know that we are not
