...Chad Whitehouse Candidate Number: 4138 MS2 Report RSA Academy Arrow Vale Report My task was to create a storyboard and a CD cover as well as insert. In order to accomplish this I had to research a range of music videos and CD covers that would relate to my genre of music. The genre that I have picked is alternative rock as I am most familiar with this genre of music and could express myself the most for this since I have an abundance of knowledge about this specific genre. Whilst conducting my research, I looked at several contemporary bands such as: Kings of Leon, Linkin Park, 30 seconds to Mars as well as other older bands such as Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Nirvana. Bands are very conventional in this genre meaning I too would be creating a fictional band- not many solo artists are seen within this genre, with the exception of Suzanne Vega, Lorde etc. With all this information I have decided to opt for a fictional band as it would be more conventional as well as please the fans of the genre more since they persist on listening to bands compared to individual artists. During my research I had discovered that the age demographic for my genre of music is 16-25 year olds. Just from this piece of information I can tell that most of the people who listen to this genre of music are in further education or had just started university- I can then tell that the type of music would be party related as this age group is stereotyped for partying during this social part of their...

...Using your own detailed examples explore representations of ethnicity in the media today. There are many representations of ethnicity is the media however they all seem to be very limited if not overlooked completely. Many of these tend to be as token gestures or stereotypical to fit with the dominant ideology. To explore this further I will be primarily looking at the representation of Gypsies in My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, a TV programme produced by Jenny Popplewell shown on Channel 4. I will also comment on other representations of gypsies in the media such as those in Snatch and The Traveller Times Online. In the media, gypsies are portrayed in a negative light. Every single media product stereotypes them as dirty, tramps and thieves. We see this everywhere, in magazines, films, TV programmes and Documentaries. A good example is the article titled ‘Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves?’ it varies in different words that are linked with negativity throughout the whole article. While including examples from Snatch, the article says ‘Messages of gypsies in Snatch are deeply negative, putting us, the audience in a superior position’. This clearly shows the negativity of them in the media. Only 300,000 gypsies and travellers live in Britain. Only small part of them are in TV programmes and other forms of media therefore the representation is disproportionate to their population. Not all Irish Travellers are dirty or thieves. My Big Fat Gypsy Weddings is clearly produced purely for entertainment...

The park is utilized for a variety of community activities including educational presentations to high school and college students, fundraising events, an annual Harvest Walk, Valentine's Day Walk and weddings ("Heart in the Park Labyrinth", n.d). Community projects such as this can be successful when elected officials come together with residents. Collaboration amongst various team members has proven to be an effective tool when utilized to accomplish common goals that may not have been achievable on their own (Swindell & Hilvert, 2014). When different partners come together it is important to ensure that all team players are on the same page. There are seven characteristics that can influence the success in achieving goals in a community project; assessing funds available, contract specifications...

...Three innovative ideas that would improve the area where I live are better jobs, more children after school activities, and parks. In my community there are not as many jobs that are available for many people. This has because many people to struggle with the cost of living. This is due to the low income that is being paid to employees. For example, there are several restaurants that are available in my area, which is the only jobs that will hire people with no experience. Their pay is not much but with the low income that is being paid and the high cost of living, it is not the best job to make ends meet. There are not many after school activities for children where I live today. If there was more after school activities, it will give provide more advantages of children learning, staying out of trouble, and experiencing more out of life. Parks are great to have in the community because this gives families more places that are fun for their children and provides places for many sports activities. Where I live we have 2 parks that are available and one of them is not fill with playgrounds for children and fields where many boys have the opportunity of playing baseball, basketball, and other sports that they love. The other park that we have is located in a neighborhood that is not a place for children. I would never allow or advise my children to attend this...

...Community Profile Presentation ETH/316 Introduction Factors such as the physical environment, social communication, diversity, population, technology, social inequality, and social efforts are what ultimately lead to change within communities. They can determine how stable communities are, potential growth, and accomplishments that communities have succeeded in. Each community has its own profile, and within each community all people have social roles in which they play. Roles are significant components within a community, and they contribute to stability by enabling its members to interact and build relationships on different levels throughout the community. Diversity within population amongst a community is what also helps a community to thrive and surface new ideas, which is beneficial to a community. People in a community that bring about change can be a friend, employee, student, or anyone; there is no one specific person who can build a community by his/her self; it is community efforts. This presentation will discuss the profile of a place called Sims City, and all about this little city that makes it worth living in its community. Then, whatever, was outside in the darkness also breathed, and the huge silence of the night seemed to come inside the camper, stifling them. It was then he decided to pack up and move to a motel. Comments on narration: • Normally chronological (though sometimes uses flashbacks) • A sequential presentation of the events that add up to a story. • A narrative differs from a mere listing of events. Narration usually contains characters, a setting, a conflict, and a resolution. Time and place and person are normally established. In this paragraph, the "story" components are: a protagonist (Hanson), a setting (the park), a goal (to camp), an obstacle (nature), a climax (his panic), and a resolution (leaving). • Specific details always help a story, but so does interpretive language. You don't just lay the words on the page; you point them in the direction of a story. • This...

...In the case of F.J. Busse vs. Department of General Services, Busse was contracted by the General State Authority to build a fountain in Point State Park. When the area was nearly excavated, Hurricane Agnes deposited 6 inches of dirt onto the site. Busse submitted a change order for $85,000, but the General State Authority only granted Busse an extension of time. The GSA said that any funds recovered from federal reimbursement would be paid to Busse, but no funds were ever recovered. The court ruled that Busse was responsible for the cost of the dirt removal from the job site under the terms of the contract. The court said that even though neither party was responsible for the loss, the party who agreed to take the loss must be responsible for it. In this case, the court decided that Busse agreed to take this loss. In the contract, the provisions are quite vague with Busse agreeing to take the loss from “any other hazard”. The court used this to say that damage from a hurricane could be included under this. The court also ruled that the damage to the job site did not make fulfilling the terms of the contract impossible, but just more expensive. In this case, it does not seem that the court deemed the cost of the cleanup to be impractical, or much more costly than anticipated. I do not agree with the findings of this court. While the contract did leave Busse liable for a multitude of possible damages, I do not believe than a severe act of God like a hurricane should be included...

...Discussion Question A- ( Answer In IRAC Format) A new religious group has formed in the city of Boulder that worships mountain peaks. The members of this group believe that the way to spiritual fulfillment is to live in public parks, worship the nearby mountains, and sell jewelry that the members make from rocks and trees found in the park. The city has forced the members to leave the parks at night due to an ordinance prohibiting overnight camping in the parks. The city has also ordered the members to stop advertising and selling their jewelry in the park to comply with a park rule prohibiting the placement of signs in the park by private individuals. The signs read, “Buy the most sacred jewelry around. It’s also beautiful and reasonable priced. Profits help further the worship of the mountains.” In protest, the members also made T shirts which say, “Replace the members of the city council! They are unholy and incompetent!” The city passed a resolution prohibiting persons from criticizing city officials in the city parks. The members of the group challenge the constitutionality of the city’s actions under equal protections, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech. Discuss the arguments each side would raise under each of the challenged actions of the city. ...Week 3 You Decide 1. You are the judge in the case. Does Susie have a case against Ruthless? Is Ruthless the proximate cause of Susie’s injuries? I certainly do think that Susie has a case against Ruthless because of the simple fact that Susie told Ruthless that she wanted to wait for Orson or she could walk home since she only lived six blocks from the park, but Ruthless paid no attention to Susie, he did not acknowledge what she said and gave her no choice but ordered everyone to get into the truck. Officer Ruthless could have stayed with Susie for a few minutes to see if Orson would come and pick her up, if not, then Officer Ruthless could have easily driven Susie home to ensure that she arrived safely at her home. If Officer Ruthless had other duties that he had to tend to, he could have easily called Susie’s parents to come and pick her up or called his supervisor to tell him that he was running behind because he needed to take a minor home, I’m sure that his supervisor would have understood and all of Susie’s injuries could have been prevented. I believe that Ruthless was the proximate cause of Susie’s injuries because he was the one who ordered her to get into a vehicle that she was refusing to get into from the beginning. Susie has every right to file a complaint against Officer Ruthless, the Elsewhere Police Department because Officer Ruthless is their employee and also Jerry for being careless in driving the truck. Even though a police officer is not obligated...

...Smiles and cheers are shared as families get together to watch their relatives score their first goal in a sport they love. Urban recreation areas are places where people come together and support their favorite local sports teams. However, nobody sees the negative effects on the environment that these recreational centers caused when they were created. For insistence, Helen McCall Recreational Center along Highway 98 in Walton County is expanding their “twenty-nine-acre recreation area” by clear cutting and burning the woods to expand the park (Wheeler n. pag.). While many people enjoy the idea of more public recreational spaces, there are some who disagree with how the expansion is being conducted. According to Tomas Munita’s article on...
