The advertisement I chose is for a product called Lipozene. It is a pill that would be taken by people struggling to reach their goal weight. They claim that by taking this pill and not having to change your lifestyle anyone can reach their goal. Here is the link https://mobile.lipozene.com. and below is my critique on their advertisement.
I do not think the advertisement I chose is from what would be considered a reliable source. I think this because they were their own source for advertising their own product. I found no support of their Lipozene product from something like a government health website or not for profit site. In our textbook it was stated that reliable websites often end in .gov, .edu, or .org. As you can see from the link, the website ends in .com.
The Lipozene ad does claim both safe and effective weight loss. When reading the ad all it says is that studies were conducted by researchers. There is no access to these studies and the names/credentials…show more content… First of all they're selling something. Secondly, they are offering a 100% money back guarantee. The other thing I found alarming was that they have a “buy one get one free”. Throughout the advertisement they used terms such as “studies have shown”, “clinically proven” and the one that just sounds fake “real people, real results”. The advertisement even included before and after photos. However the photos included were only of 3 participants. The other thing I noticed regarding photos was of the lean fit woman on their home page, she is labelled “model”. Someone who doesn’t see that might get the impression that is a body type they can get from taking Lipozene. It definitely raises the red flag of sounding to good to be true. I think even the Lipozene company knows so. In the fine print at the bottom it says “results not typical”. I've come to the conclusion that this advertisement is being the truth around their
