Key ratios are a percentage that illustrates and summarizes the current financial condition of a company. Their ratios can be used to scrutinize Extreme Sports Nutrition’s financial status.
Liquidity ratio is the proportion between the liquid assets and the liabilities of a bank or other institution. This liquidity ratio attempts to measure the company’s ability to pay off their short-term debt obligations. You can measure their ability by comparing the company’s convertible into cash assets, or liquid assets, and their short-term liabilities. The greater the coverage of liquid assets over short-term liabilities, the better it is. It shows that a company can pay off its debts due in the near future but still fund their ongoing operations. If the company has a low coverage rate, it tells investors that the company will have a hard time meeting their obligations, while continuing their operations.
Current ratio is used to test a company’s liquidity. The idea behind this ratio is to confirm if a company’s short-term assets (cash, cash equivalents, marketable securities, receivables and inventory) are immediately accessible to pay off its short-term liabilities (notes payable, current portion of term debt, payables, accrued expenses, and taxes). A low turnover implies poor sales, which means excess inventory. A high ratio implies either strong sales or inefficient buying. High inventory levels are unhealthy because they represent an investment with a rate of return being zero. Extreme Sports Nutrition in 2010 was doing very well with their inventory ratio being 21.4211%. In 2011 there was a substantial drop in the company’s inventory turnover ratio making it 15.6864%.
