The book Sweet Unrest by Lisa Maxwell is about a teenage girl Lucy who is forced to move to New Orleans for her dad's job. She encounters many things, including love and conflict. Based on her actions, it can be concluded that she has the characteristics of both the characters Romeo and Juliet from the play Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare.
Similar to Lucy and Alex, Romeo is so taken with Juliet that she never leaves his mind and she is his every thought. His cousin, Benvolio, tries to stop him from being so obsessed but Romeo isn’t able to stop. He is so fascinated by her, and does everything he can to be with her. Love is the driving force of every decision he makes, even if they are bad ones. He describes Juliet in way that makes it seem…show more content… He compared her to the sun, and claims that the moon is jealous of her beauty. In Sweet Unrest, Lucy is similar to Romeo because of her need for Alex, her love interest. Alex holds many secrets, and Lucy wants to know every one of them. Mama Legba, the town’s crazy person but Lucy’s friend, is telling her to stay away. She is trying to convince Lucy that Alex is dangerous, but Lucy can’t stay away. This can be related to Romeo and Juliet because Romeo should be staying away from Juliet because of the family rivalry, but he can’t. Love is driving both Lucy and Romeo to do things they shouldn't be doing just to be with the one they love. Love is their motivation.
Juliet, in Romeo and Juliet faces a lot of conflict in the play. She makes many irrational decisions because of her love for Romeo. There is a lot of conflict between their families, the Montagues and Capulets. Juliet, as a Montague and Romeo, as a Capulet, are not allowed to be together. Juliet, aware of this still decides to marry Romeo.
