Moreover, nobody can run away from the fact that one has to exert much effort for him to achieve something meritorious. Hopefully, the path we are tracking right now paves the way to the portal of goals of humbly aspire. However, as we wander along, inevitable conflicts and uncertainties arise tempting as to withdraw back and finally to surrender. It would be more for people solely focused on the entertainment aspect of the movie, like the plot and the actors’ performances, rather than any implied meanings or ‘academic’ aspects of the series. It would also be targeted to individuals like myself who typically don’t watch TV and just binge-watch a series when it becomes available, but want a ‘straight to the point’ review that highlights the good and bad things of a series. Matthew’s McConnaissance Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson may not be your first choice for a gritty, noir-inspired detective series, but after watching the series it would be hard to pick anyone better for their roles. In True Detective, Harrelson is Marty Hart, a family man and run-of-the-mill cop that acts like your usual pension driven civil servant, while McConaughey plays the pensive, but condescending new partner, Rust Cole. Their goal is typical for the genre: find a murderer terrorizing this sleepy town in Louisiana. The biggest draw of the series is easily the two main actors’ performances. ...Lit Theory In The Little Mermaid The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson is very different to the familiar Disney version, but something that they both have in common is the underlying idea of feminism. Both versions are mainly about women and the male characters have to depend on these women to save their lives. The main character is female and so is the villain and both, in their own way, have a lot more power than the men in the story. A main observation that supports feminism in The Little Mermaid is that there are almost no male characters in the story. There is a sea king who is the little mermaid’s father but he is only mentioned. The only male character that has even the slightest meaning to the story is the prince that the mermaid falls in love with and he’s not really developed as a character at all. He’s really just there for plot purpose, and it’s the little mermaid and the sea witch that actually have a personality. Another point of feminism is the fact that the women in the story have all the power. This is first observed in the fact that the king of the sea is mentioned but it is his mother that has an actual role and gives words of wisdom to the main character which sets off the entire plot.
