When you hear a city’s name, most people unintentionally relate it to a stereotype or saying about the place. Hollywood, California is linked to fame and fortune. New York City we relate to the fast life of chaos. Yet when you hear Miami, you know you’re getting yourself into the scene of sun, beaches and partying. Miami is a great place to live in. Being that I was born and raised in Miami, the beach life is the only life I've ever known--if you know anything about Miami, you know the partying just comes with the beaches.
It was the ideal Saturday to be out enjoying summer-97 degree weather, clear cloud free skies, and the absolute warmth it brought to be off from school and work. South beach here in Miami is filled with dozens of people at all times of the day; it then sinks in how truly great it feels to be in Miami. Walking down Collin Road, you start losing track at the diversity of people Miami really has. It's a great thing to see the many different faces, color, sizes and personality the world has, all available in one strip of Miami.
It's noon time approaching Mango's Restaurant and Bar. Me and friends already know the day that lies ahead is full of positive energy. The funnest part is enjoying lunch, or should I say happy hour, viewing the beach scenery. From this point on the only cold we felt were the tropical drinks that were adding up, because on top of us the sun was as its best. I think we'd all agree that 2010 was a noticeable change in whether, where hot couldn't be defined anywhere better than in Miami. Rosy cheeks, loud laughing, and the tab amount (which is better we can't recall now a day) definitely had the beach calling our names already. The loud music in Mango's and the dancing that came natural more likely focused our Hispanic roots.
Thankfully the beach was right ahead--the amount of stores to shop in, bars and people in every corner selling something amusing was side tracking. But finally our feet sink into sizzling sand, where the drinks covered up the pain and ahead of us lie what seemed to be scattered chaos everywhere. South Beach should be recognized as the place that gets no sleep, although time in Miami is never wasted, us girls somehow managed to lose track of it. 1 O'clock, 8th & Collins, a summer Saturday with 97 degree clear skies: good luck finding a spot at the beach. Its clear people in Miami love the beach and partying as much as us--and it wouldn't be as much fun without the vast diversity Miami has.
Luckily, the day was still young, the drinks had our minds free and it was simple to fit in within the hundreds of people that covered the beach: young groups everywhere, girls swinging their body in a forward motion thrusting the volleyball as high as they can vs. the boys, and beautiful vibes all around. “What you guhls wanna hear?” the unique Jamaican, with coal dark shiny skin and dreadlocks that reached the floor said. Soon enough we had a handful of Jamaican girls and guys, playing to our enjoyment the upbeat music of Bob Marley with drums as big as some of us. Their hands creating rhythmic motions that created the melodies, that soon enough had everyone dancing. The final touch was the glow that reflected from our bodies, as our tanning oils mixed into the paradisiacal water. No moment is better captured, than the beautiful tans the beaches of South beach leaves imprinted, along with the endless laughter and smiles that comes from partying and enjoying one of life’s natural creation—the beach. Miami is the only place that lives within me.
