Liz Addison wrote the essay; “Two Years is Better than Four” published in 2007, in response to Rick Perlstein’s opinion piece “What’s the Matter With College? In which he argues that universities no longer matter as much as they once did. In this essay Addison attempts to persuade her point of view that the community college is the place to begin, she repeat it several times that community colleges are affordable places of accessible hope for the future. She used her own experience to support this essay, because she used to be a community college student, contrary to Perlsteins who went to a four year university. She responds to Perlstein in an offended tone since he does not take into consideration the reasons why students choose to attend
