...Logistics Information Warehouse or LIW is an information system that was created for individuals within the Armed Forces to encompass all logistical data into one convenient location from various information systems. Taking the Army into account, one can see that for years the Army had multiple information systems that did not interact between one another. This created more work for individuals who needed multiple reports from each of the information systems to generate one report for a specific purpose. This lack of interaction between the systems resulted in extensive time lost between information flow from one organization to another. LIW was created in order to eliminate the inefficiency with the amount of time required to retrieve valuable information from each of the Army’s information systems. With the different systems data feeding into one central point or information system, a type of hub has been created for logisticians, who are the primary users of LIW. The primary function of this system is to have one location for the logistics personnel to retrieve information pertaining to their units, battalions, as well as service wide.
