Introduction With the increasing impact of greenhouse gas emissions as well as people’s awareness of protecting the living environment, our group decides to launch a campaign aiming at mobilizing people to reduce the emission of their carbon footprint on their own efforts. The core message of our campaign is to arouse the college students in Loughborough to strive their own effort to minimize the output of greenhouse gas in their daily life mainly through battery recycle, furthermore, to help spread the environmental consciousness to more citizens. The paper illustrates the core strategy of our advertising campaign, including our communication objectives, target audience, the budget, and media types to conduct the advertisement as well as the evaluation of the campaign. We are confident that via a dedicated implementation and control of the communication process, this advertising campaign will be a success not only in motivating people to reduce the carbon dioxide, but also in collecting people’s concentrated efforts to protect the environment we live by. 2. ...its own operation system that can meet its developing requirement. Apart from improving its product, McDonald’s is also dedicated to speed up service rate and maximize profits by bringing new ideas to its operation system since it was established by Richard McDonald. McDonald’s in Loughborough(layout flow process) Located in the central of Loughborough, McDonald’s serves thousands of people a day. According to the high volume and low variety of customers, the process type of McDonald’s turn out to be service shop. Specifically, staffs in the kitchen transfer the materials into products while the waiters stand at service counter providing service to customers. In order to access the efficiency of processing, McDonald’s divide its layout into two parts: One is the line layout in service area, which means customers should waiting in lines to be served for their meals. The other is the process layout in the kitchen. By locating the same cooking machine together, when materials (like bread, chicken, beef etc.) flow though the kitchen, they will take a route from activity to activity according to the step of cook. (Textbook, p208). The whole layout of the ground floor of McDonald’s in Loughborough are presented as follow picture: It is clear from the picture that the locations of facilities in service area are designed especially for line layout. For instance, in front of the service counter is the space between tables where customers can stand in queue without disturbing others;...

User requirements analysis A review of supporting methods Martin Maguire Research School in Ergonomics and Human Factors Loughborough University, UK m.c.maguire@lboro.ac.uk Nigel Bevan Serco Usability Services, UK nbevan@usability.serco.com Abstract: Understanding user requirements is an integral part of information systems design and is critical to the success of interactive systems. However specifying these requirements is not so simple to achieve. This paper describes general methods to support user requirements analysis that can be adapted to a range of situations. Some brief case studies are described to illustrate how these methods have been applied in practice. user requirements, user-centred design, usability methods Key words: 1. INTRODUCTION Understanding user requirements is an integral part of information systems design and is critical to the success of interactive systems. It is now widely understood that successful systems and products begin with an understanding of the needs and requirements of the users. As specified in the ISO 13407 standard (ISO, 1999), user-centred design begins with a thorough understanding of the needs and requirements of the users. The benefits can include increased productivity, enhanced quality of work, reductions in support and training costs, and improved user satisfaction. Requirements...

Triangulation refers to the use of more than one approach to the investigation of a research question in order to enhance confidence in the ensuing findings. Since much social research is founded on the use of a single research method and as such may suffer from limitations associated with that method or from the specific application of it, triangulation offers the prospect of enhanced confidence. Triangulation is one of the several rationales for MULTIMETHOD RESEARCH. The term derives from surveying, where it refers to the use of a series of triangles to map out an area. TRIANGULATION AND MEASUREMENT The idea of triangulation is very much associated with measurement practices in social and behavioral research. An early reference to triangulation was in relation to the idea of UNOBTRUSIVE METHOD proposed by Webb et al. (1966), who suggested, “Once a proposition has been confirmed by two or more independent measurement processes, the uncertainty of its interpretation is greatly reduced. The most persuasive evidence comes through a triangulation of measurement processes” (p. 3). Thus, if we devise a new survey-based measure of a concept like emotional labor, our confidence in that measure will be greater if we can confirm the...

...Journal of Information Technology Education Volume 2, 2003 An Overview of Current Research on Automated Essay Grading Salvatore Valenti, Francesca Neri and Alessandro Cucchiarelli DIIGA - Universita’ Politecnica delle Marche, Ancona, Italy valenti@inform.unian.it neri@inform.unian.it alex@inform.unian.it Executive Summary Essays are considered by many researchers as the most useful tool to assess learning outcomes, implying the ability to recall, organize and integrate ideas, the ability to express oneself in writing and the ability to supply merely than identify interpretation and application of data. It is in the measurement of such outcomes, corresponding to the evaluation and synthesis levels of the Bloom’s (1956) taxonomy that the essay questions serve their most useful purpose. One of the difficulties of grading essays is represented by the perceived subjectivity of the grading process. Many researchers claim that the subjective nature of essay assessment leads to variation in grades awarded by different human assessors, which is perceived by students as a great source of unfairness. This issue may be faced through the adoption of automated assessment tools for essays. A system for automated assessment would at least be consistent in the way it scores essays, and enormous cost and time savings could be achieved if the system can be shown to grade essays within the range of those awarded by human assessors. This paper presents an overview of current approaches...

...Stanley, B. (2014). Team Science: A Matter of Trust? American Psychological Association, 45(7), 44-44. Scientists and researchers are collaborating more than ever in team environments, and certain relationships and trusts must be established with a common goal in sight. Efficiency and the expedition of new developments is the main objective of forming new workgroups. Different components of the process may not all be in the same location, so team members must have confidence that their co-workers are thorough and ethical in their findings for the group. In some cases, teams will rely on the information produced elsewhere to complete their section of the assignment, so this trust has become more vital than ever. Team members pay close attention to detail when selecting those needed to contribute to the project, as the work of others will directly reflect on them as well. Keywords: Trust, efficiency, reliable, ethical, attention to detail Woolley, A., Bear, J., & DeConstanza, A. (2013). The effects of team strategic orientation on team process and information search. Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, 114-126. Strategic orientation within teams determines the methods in which members are likely to interpret information, contribute to research, and assess different possibilities or obstacles. More specifically, strategic orientation portrays the overall attitude of the group as being either offensive or defensive with individual decision making. This...
