In 1759, England and France fought for the Colony of Quebec. France lost the battle, lost her Colony and left her Colonists under British rule. Three months after that defeat, Louis Marney Jr. was born to Louis Marney Sr, who came to Quebec as a French Soldier, and Marie Josephe Couturier whose family was among the founders of Quebec.
16 years later, Louis Marney Jr. fought in the Battle of Quebec with General Montgomery; the Americans lost. Later, when British reinforcements arrived in Quebec, the Continental Army hastily retreated from Canada, as did Louis Marney Jr., homeless and branded a traitor.
In New York, Louis enlisted in the 2nd Canadian Regiment of the Continental Army, as a Sergeant. This Regiment was known as “Congress’ Own
