...A LOVE STORY: LOVE FOR GOD & LOVE FOR YOUR FELLOW MAN!!!! The Bible tells us that ‘God is love’. (1 John 4:16). So it is fair to read that great passage in 1 Corinthians 13 in the light of how God’s love is expressed to us. 1 Cor 13:4-8 ‘ God’s love is patient, God’s love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, God’s love keeps no record of wrongs. God’s love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. God’s love never fails. Now, why is this all so important? Well, it’s because our understanding and experience of God’s love plays a huge part in our love, acceptance, and relationships with other people. For we tend to treat others as we think God treats us. So understanding God’s love for you is not an end in and of itself. The end is that you may share that love with others. Paul tells us what he was trying to achieve through his teaching in 1 Tim 1:5 ‘But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart.’ But how does this come about? We love, John tells us, because He loved us first. (1 John 4:19) And it can also be said that we tend to love in proportion to the love we have experienced from God. So while these points are probably not new, allow God to speak them to your heart once again. God’s love acts! Rom 5:8 ‘But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners...

...A Story of Love and Courage Love is a very powerful emotion. It provides people with courage and causes them to act bravely. To have someone to love, and therefore someone to act bravely for, makes one capable of more than expected. Love leads to bravery and can get people through terrible times. In the movie Life is Beautiful, director Roberto Benigni shows the quality of bravery through the experiences of the main characters as they attempt to survive a concentration camp during World War II. When Guido Orefice, an Italian Jew, arrives in Arezzo, he meets Dora, who comes from a wealthy Italian family. Even though she is engaged, she falls in love with Guido, and they marry and have a son, Giosue. At Giosue’s fifth birthday, Guido and Giosue are taken by Nazis to a concentration camp, and Dora insists on voluntarily going with them. At the camp, Guido convinces Giosue that everything is just a game, and he will earn points towards winning a tank. Unfortunately, when Guido goes looking for Dora, he is caught and shot to death by a Nazi soldier, but Giosue and Dora survive. Love is a powerful emotion which leads to acts of bravery, that people perform, even when they are scared. This is shown by Dora’s love for Guido and Giosue, by Guido’s love for Giosue, and by Guido’s love for Dora. Undoubtedly, Dora loves her husband and her son with all her heart; she shows courage when she runs away with Guido, and later again when she volunteers to join Guido and Giosue at the concentration...

...I relate to The Checkouts. I think I relate to this story because one of my closest friends experienced this and I heard it many times. She went to college and never came back. I haven’t heard from her since. This story made me remember her because she fell in love with him without even talking to him. Just like the girl in the story did. “Then one day the bag boy dropped her jar of mayonnaise and that is how she fell in love.” Although she never talked to him, she still liked him and she said she would always look for him every time she went to get gas for her car, but he was never there. She told me she crossed paths with him again at the ice arena when he was on another date. Of course, my friend was upset that he was with a new...

...Love Story, (2008) by Taylor Swift demonstrates myth #1 by suggesting to the masses that nothing and no one can separate two people who love each other, even if it requires sneaking around, and lying. Love story also demonstrates myth #10 by promoting that a woman, in this case, must find a mate in order to be “saved” and truly happy, suggesting that without a mate, a woman would be incapable of happiness or worth. Throughout the song Swift, (Juliet), expresses her fathers’ views that oppose her relationship with Romeo, only to suggest that secretly seeing him was not only acceptable if it meant she was with her true love, but that this would ultimately gain her fathers’ approval in the end. When Romeo is nowhere to be found Juliet expresses her sadness, loneliness, and longing for Romeo to save her. In reality, Juliet is capable of finding another person whom may bring her happiness, and that she can fill her own life with joy on her own rather than being dependent on Romeo. Though Love Story was a hit single for Swift, the song contradicts reality and creates a fantasy-like result from otherwise compromising situations in real life relationships. Love Story should be thoughtfully examined and analyzed in order to decipher fantasy versus reality, and promote more realistic probabilities based on rational models....

...True Love is my first Melissa Pearl book and I loved it. Nessa and Jimmy’s story pulled me in right away, there was no drawn intro to their story. It went right to the point and showed me what they were suppose to be together. This story was a bit emotional and very sweet. It will definitely touch your hearts and make you fall in love. Jimmy as the rock god in the group, was the biggest manwhore ever. He wasn’t a bad guy, he just didn’t know anything pass girls and sex, that’s what he was brought up to be. He was trained to be that guy, one night stand guy. But one night in the heat of passion he took his best friend Nessa to bed and didn’t think of the consequences of his actions. That night was the biggest mistake of his life that he will...

...someone tell a true story when it’s made up? O’Brien develops a scene where the facts hold less importance compared to what the reader feels. War is already hard enough to fathom, but when “the crazy stuff is true and the normal stuff isn’t, the normal stuff is necessary to make you believe the truly incredible craziness” (68). The next layer dives into the perception of the reader versus what O’Brien wants to show. Sometimes personal experience can misconstrue the original meaning; hence, by changing any bias of the story, every reader will better connect with the piece, but also understand that “you can’t extract the meaning without unraveling the deeper meaning” (74). The point is to “make [the] stomach believe,” because creating...

...Shakespeare My first impression of Much Ado About Nothing is that it would be a love story. Although it is categorised as a Shakespearean comedy, I found the many "funny" parts of the play were foggy and required you to read the scene over a few times before you understood them. But then again, I had to read the whole scene over again a few times to understand anything. All of the characters in Much Ado About Nothing seemed to develop a personality of their own from the very first scene. It also helped that I saw the movie version of Much Ado About Nothing before we read the play so I could almost get a picture in my head as to what each character looked like. As the character's had their own personality, so did the two love relationships in the play. Benedick and Beatrice seemed to hate each other so much from the very start of the play that as the play carried on it almost seemed like the two went full circle in their relationship. But their relationship might not have changed for the better without help from Claudio, Don Pedro, Leonato, Ursula or Hero. In Claudio's and Hero's relationship seemed to be much more conventional in the way they came together. Claudio first saw Hero and instantly fell in love with her, while Hero stood by and took orders from her father, Leonato. Only when Don John devised his deception to break Claudio and Hero apart that I felt the relationship was in trouble, but even then I felt there was hope. In Act...

...Joan Didion and Dave Barry are both excellent writers with full command of the English language. However, they differ in both their purpose and styles when writing. In her essay “John Wayne: A Love Story” Didion writes, “As it happened I did not grow up to be the kind of woman who is the heroine in a Western, and although the men I have known have had many virtues…they have never been John Wayne…” Didion’s purpose in writing the aforementioned section was to express the distinction between other men and the legend of a man that was John Wayne. To this end, she employs a complex sentence with many participial phrases which she skillfully intertwines with an extended metaphor to further her point. The style is reflective and introspective, and...

...hi i am swarupa"Love Story" We were both young when I first saw you. I close my eyes and the flashback starts: I'm standing there on a balcony in summer air. See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns. See you make your way through the crowd And say, "Hello," Little did I know... That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles, And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet" And I was crying on the staircase Begging you, "Please don't go" And I said... Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone. I'll be waiting; all that's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess, It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes." So I sneak out to the garden to see you. We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew So close your eyes... escape this town for a little while. Oh, oh. 'Cause you were Romeo – I was a scarlet letter, And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet." But you were everything to me, I was begging you, "Please don't go." And I said... Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone. I'll be waiting; all that's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess. It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes." ...Love Story I used to think that I was just meant to be alone, that I never would find the right one. Sometimes I would stop to take a look at myself and think that maybe there was something wrong with me. Maybe I was so broken that no one could fix it. I usually take wise decisions in my life. But every time love came around everything changed. I put my heart on a silver plate and got the little pieces that were left from it thrown back at me. I was giving up on love and of all I ever thought love was. And then I met him. “It is scary”, I told him and shrugged. He laughed at me. “What do you mean?” “Well… what if we fall for each other and then it all goes to hell?” He looked at me and answered quickly: “Yeah, what if that happens? But what if it doesn’t.” I took a deep breath. This is how it is; you can take several steps back when someone else takes just a little tiny step forward. You can protest and say “Wow, back off! I didn’t come here to give my heart away and slowly dig down needle-sharp nails in it. That has been happening way too many times before”. You can do that. Or you can run up to him and start laughing while you’re kissing him. It is like choosing between always having a gray sky or having sunshine with risk of a few showers. Do you see how easy it was? “Jamie, you can’t go on like this. You have to start living again”. I knew Lydia was right, but my body didn’t seem to cooperate with my brain. My attempt to get off the couch looked...
