Lyceum Theatre Review: The Play That Goes Wrong

This is a must watch Broadway show that makes your good, bad, or even a boring day, an absolute blast. The Play That Goes Wrong has finally made its way to America and right at the heart of New York City near Times Square at the Lyceum Theatre, makes the experience a win-win situation for the audience. The Lyceum Theatre’s architecture is astonishing as its filled with ornaments; I also realized the letter ‘L’ around the theater, but the most interesting fact is that this theater is a landmark. It has a proscenium stage in which the audience is in the orchestra, balcony, or the mezzanine seats where I sat, and there is barely any space if you are a tall person. My seat was near the far end of mezzanine, I couldn’t see a part of the left side …show more content…
I quickly found a short 4-minute video on YouTube, ‘The Interview That Goes Wrong’ with Jimmy Fallon, it sure was hilarious, and I couldn’t wait to see a whole two hour play by them. What surprised me the most was that the writers of the play, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields where in the play themselves! This gave me a better feeling because of how original and passionate they would be throughout the play. As the show went along after the intermission, I found to believe that the entertainment never stopped. Many people were laughing while I was waiting on line to enter the theater, waiting for the show to start, and during intermission as the actors interacted with the audience in their respective characters, but especially Trevor. In my opinion, it boosts everyone’s experience by making people smile or laugh because waiting is boring, and taking time out of their break only shows passion and determination to make it the best show anyone has ever been …show more content…
The play kept everyone rolling and Trevor added sound/lighting operating mistakes that added to the laughter. It seemed real when the actors were being hurt, but I do not know, and the set falling apart was even funnier by their reactions and pain. I like how the writers set up the pace by eventually making characters freeze in a certain stance and taking the spotlight from them. It helped because I was looking at each character to see who’s next to do something ridiculous. Since this play is a comedy, I can’t describe who plays the good or bad guy, but the play within this play is something for you to find out. I did not mention the whole the cast because each one is a comedian to me and I would give too much away about the play. As for the writers in action, they killed it on the stage, and no more is need to be said about their acting besides the fact that it’d watch this show again. Overall, this is a show for all ages, old, young, it doesn’t matter, everyone that night stood up to applaud the actors

I ought to be gratified by this change; but if I was unwilling previously to attribute the neglect of my work to its small value, I cannot take the interest which is now making its appearance as proof of its quality. When I wrote this book in 1899 there was as yet no "sexual theory," and the analysis of the more complicated forms of the psychoneuroses was still in its infancy.
