Brief Outline:
The idea for my feature article is to highlight the influenced social commentary of East Europeans in the public eye (in particularly Bosnians and Serbians) as a result of lack of knowledge of past events such as the Yugoslavian war. This exposure has a vast impact on the way in which East-Europeans, including myself are perceived and treated in society.
My feature article will include personal experiences that will assist in projecting the message. As my mother works as an interpreter she comes into contact with those who suffer the same problem, many of which she has fulfilled a relationship with. I will use these as potential interviewees to further enhance the argument.
Other potential interviewees could be Doctors or Psychologists in which my mother has interpreted for. Although they cannot disclose personal information about clients – I could receive a general overview of their understanding of the topic as a result of the Yugoslavian war and the common post-traumatic stresses that occur regularly. Possible questions: * Is it common for social backlash to affect those suffering post-traumatic stress from events such as this? * If so, how does one cope with this sort of derogatory commentary on top of their own personal issues?
Possible research sources:

Personal research: As a result of lack of knowledge on the Yugoslavian war I have experienced verbal and physical attacks based on my ethnicity. These attacks occurred when I was in high school at the age of 14. I was competing in Women’s League Soccer. I had scored the winning goal for the league resulting in my team winning the overall championship. During celebrations I was approached by a player from the opposing team in which she attacked me from the back and pursued to punch me numerous times. The verbal comments she was making were along the lines of ‘You dirty Bosnian gypsy,’ ‘Muslims are garbage,’ and ‘Your country deserved to rot into pieces.’ This was followed by a spit on the face in which her parents were standing alongside her without a flinch.
(I do not intend to go into full detail with the experience, but more so a general overview that will provide the readers with an understanding of inappropriate and inaccurate use of racist commentary).

My intention is to connect the readers with this strong personal experience, then tie it down with others who have been involved in similar situations. I will then connect all of this with actual social commentary that is based not only on the internet (such as Facebook, Twitter etc.) but also through published articles that provide an uneducated reading of the events that occurred in Yugoslavia during the war as well as the intended perception that readers could possibly feel of East-Europeans once they have completed the reading.

Current Research:
I am collating up to three published articles that express the need to belittle East-Europeans involved in the Yugoslavian war. These will provide the reader with a clearer understanding of how the media has a vigorous impact on how people perceive East-Europeans and in particularly Muslims.
I will also include extracts/posts from social media accounts that have used such derogatory language as a result of uneducated exposure of past events in the public eye.

Impact of Technology on Math Fact Fluency

... Institution: Course: Tutor: Date: A. RESEARCH TOPIC The majority individuals would have the same opinion that a key objective of education must involve the expansion of learners’ comprehension of fundamental mathematical theories along with procedures. Every student, comprising learners with impairments and students vulnerable to failure, require gaining the know-how and capabilities that may allow them into “understanding” math-associated questions which they come across everyday at domicile as well as in upcoming work incidences. Unluckily, substantial evidence exists to designate that such goal isn’t being achieved, particularly for kids manifesting learning problems. Because the initial dispiriting outcomes of arithmetic accomplishment discovered with State Evaluation of Schooling Progress (SESP) during 1974, insufficient evidence exists to indicate that arithmetic accomplishment has increased considerably, particularly for learners with impairments (Spinelli, 2012). The intention for this research is to identify technology effectiveness towards fundamental arithmetic fluency. As a component of the classroom educational involvement, the research was carried out with ten learners with fair to stern cognitive impairments registered into a school of special training. This five-week research employed a solitary-case turnaround plan (ABAB). Data examination involved visual along with numerical techniques...

Personality Traits

...itself to nomothetic approach, which is a quantitative approach that studies personalities that people share in common to find out a general law that applies to everyone. The nomothetic approach suggests that people show universal traits and that personality traits are consistent within humans. Gordan Allport first brought up this approach to understand personality in 1930s, and after that, many theories has been conducted from it. Individual’s personality indicates behaviour, thus the accuracy of the indication of individual’s personality and behaviour in nomothetic approach decides the validity and effectiveness of the approach. Thus the statement that “ the nomothetic approach is the most effective way to understand an individual’s personality” can be critically evaluated by testing the validity of predictions of the theories. As mentioned above, there are two commonly accepted approaches to understand individual’s personality. The idea that people’s personalities are unique brings the idiographic approach that investigates individuals in personal and in-depth details. According to idiographic approach, each person’s personality should be concerned with the understanding of his or her unique interpretations to reality (Grice). It is necessary to analyze the effectiveness of idiographic approach in comparison to the nomothetic approach. According to Allport, these two approaches overlap and complement each other (Allport, 1937). Idiographic approach is seen as a more complete...

A New Approach to Clustering

...Objective of the research The objective of this research is to increase the attention of stakeholders on the general information concerning methods used in data reduction. The research approaches this topic from a perspective where it creates a new method of clustering data. The basis of this approach is that similar and different forms of data are grouped in their own distinct sets. The level of similarity or difference is based on certain qualities in regard to the data collected. This could be in terms of distance or weight of the items in the data. The aim of this research is create new forms of clustering data that corrects some of the gaps that are created by the old existing methods data clustering. This research aims at ensuring that the miscalculations that were created by the old system of data collection are rectified. The research shows the ineffectiveness of the previous methods of data clustering through a comparative analysis of the new and the old data clustering method. Introduction Clustering of data is important for any process of data reduction. This is because classification of data allows research to have reduced data upon which they can make an analysis. Huge data that is not classified makes it difficult for researchers to handle data within a short period of time. There are various methods and formulas that are used in data reduction. These formulas are meant to correct certain inconsistencies that previous formulas had towards data reduction. In...

Role of Accounting on Business Behavior Impacted by Tax Changes in Malaysia

...Title: Role of accounting on business behaviors impacted by tax changes in Malaysia Justification There are many factors influence the changes of accounting importance where the role of accounting evolves along with the business changes affected by these factors. One of the factors that affect role of accounting in business field is tax. In Malaysia, Tax is generally divided into 2 types which are direct and indirect tax. Direct tax can be defined as tax which is imposed straight to the taxpayer. In short, the payment of tax is between taxpayer towards government. Examples of direct tax are income tax from employee salary, corporation tax, property tax, and etc. Meanwhile, indirect tax is a type of charge that can be transferred to the other person. A good example of indirect tax is restaurant that collect tax charge of the food’s sold from the customer (sales tax). Other examples of indirect tax are custom duty, central excise duty, and service tax). Leadership Theory

...There are several theoretical approaches to what creates an effective leader. Four main approaches are identified for this report; they are the Trait Approach, the Skills Approach, The Style Approach, and the Situational Approach. For over a century researchers have been trying to define what makes an effective or good leader, there are several theories with the most common question appearing to be are good or effective leaders born or bred. Our book, Leadership Theory and Practice, treats leadership as a complex process having multiple dimensions. (Northouse, 2013). The Trait Approach was identified as one of the earliest attempts to study leadership in the early 20th century. The characteristics traits of great political, military, and social leaders were studied and examined to identify qualities that clearly separated the leaders from the followers. The concept that leaders were born with these trait and only the “great” people possessed them. (Bass, 1990; Jago, 1982). Stogdill (1948, 1974) in his first study identified that the average individual who was in a leadership role posses the following eight (8) traits which separated them from the average group member: Intelligence Alertness Insight Responsibility Initiative Persistence Self confidence Sociability The person who posses these traits is not automatically a leader, and a person who is a leader in one situation may not be the leader in a different situation. Stogdill’s second study in 1974, identified...

Transdiagnostic Cbt

...Disorder Specific Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Interventions – WHM-M-030 Introduction The purpose of the paper is to discuss the current theory and empirical literature for using a transdiagnostic approach in cognitive behaviour therapy and it’s relevance in current practice. I will discuss the theory and evidence for using a transdiagnostic approach and highlight the main processes. A discussion on the strengths and limitations of the approach will conclude the first part of the paper. The second part will be a review of personal clinical work discussing the transdiagnostic process and its hypothesised effectiveness. To conclude the author will provide a personal reflection. There has been a long widely accepted claim for the effectiveness of CBT with prolific amount of evidence for it’s effectiveness for Depression, Anxiety and Mood disorders (Roth & Fongy, 1995) Models such as cognitive therapy for depression (Beck, Rush, Shaw, & Emery, 1979), panic disorder (Clark, 1986,), posttraumatic stress disorder (Clark & Ehlers, 2004); and obsessive-compulsive disorder (Salkovskis, 1989) have led to disorder-specific interventions for treating common mental health problems. The benefits of devising a model on specific disorders is the high degree of research and comparable data involved; from that the therapist will be highly trained in the use of the model to deliver the approach for each disorder (Salkovskis 2002). Disorder specific models are seen to be easily delivered...

The Advantages of Differing Views on Organisational Culture Theory: the Benefits of a Multiparadigm Approach.

...Charles Martin S3134484 1 The advantages of differing views on organisational culture theory: the benefits of a multiparadigm approach The purpose of this essay is to outline the advantages and disadvantages of robust debate surrounding the field of organisational culture. To achieve this, this essay presents the benefits of robust debate which has led to multiple paradigms surrounding the field of organisational culture within organisational theory. It will then be demonstrated how the effect of multiple paradigms produces various, ever improving research approaches, and different research methods which contribute insights that refute, support or extend current knowledge (Lewis & Kelemen 2002). When examined, these techniques provide a context for change within management practice using a multiparadigm approach. It has been observed by many researchers that a single paradigm is inevitably limiting when attempting to uncover certain facets within organisations and can obscure others (Schultz and Hatch 1996). The apparent discourse within organisational culture theory has exemplified organisational theory to the extent that Mingers and Brocklesby (1997) praised organisational studies for exemplifying and encouraging multiparadigm interests within other fields of research (e.g. physics, biology). The benefits of a multiparadigm approach is argued to offer a midpoint between the extremes of academic theory; this has been achieved in organisational culture by constructing...

...CHAPTER 5 AN INTEGRATED SYSTEMS APPROACH TO CROP IMPROVEMENT G.L. HAMMER# AND D.R. JORDAN## # Agricultural Production Systems Research Unit (APSRU), School of Land and Food Sciences, The University of Queensland, Brisbane, QLD 4072, Australia. ## Hermitage Research Station, Queensland Department of Primary Industries, Warwick, QLD 4370, Australia. E-mail: g.hammer@uq.edu.au Abstract. Progress in crop improvement is limited by the ability to identify favourable combinations of genotypes (G) and management practices (M) given the resources available to search among possible combinations in the target population of environments (E). Crop improvement can be viewed as a search strategy on a complex G×M×E adaptation or fitness landscape. Here we consider design of an integrated systems approach to crop improvement that incorporates advanced technologies in molecular markers, statistics, bio-informatics, and crop physiology and modelling. We suggest that such an approach can enhance the efficiency of crop improvement relative to conventional phenotypic selection by changing the focus from the paradigm of identifying superior varieties to a focus on identifying superior combinations of genetic regions and management systems. A comprehensive information system to support decisions on identifying target combinations is the critical core of the approach. We discuss the role of ecophysiology and modelling in this integrated systems approach by reviewing (i) applications in environmental...
