MDOC health care implications and best practices:
A case was presented, where a 21year old man had died being strapped naked to a concrete table for four days. Considering this, a federal judge from Correctional Medical services (CMS) has ordered Michigan DOC to implement reforms in its prison mental health care programs in order to prevent many deaths of several mentally ill patients (Marcia Clemmitt 2007). According to (National Commission on Correctional Health Care, 2008) a report was prepared on Michigan DOC Health Care System. The survey interview was conducted to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the current health care delivery system in MDOC. Because of these concerns, throughout Europe faced many public health issues. So, all the Member States of the country have come together and participated in the World Health Organization Prison’s Project to improve the health care services in prisons. Therefore, the UK NHS (National Health Services) and WHO together has implemented some guidelines in order to preserve the efficiency of maintaining good quality in prions which included: 1)The doctors or the staff in the prison should make sure that primary care is given under the supervision abiding the NHS general practices, 2)The constant visits of the senior nursing staff must be made, in order to check the conditions of the patients regularly, 3) Systematic supply of the pharmaceuticals and drugs must be administered to the patients timely etcetera (Ralf Jürgens, Alex Gatherer, Haik Nikogosian 2006).
