Mabon or the Witches Thanksgiving is time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest and other blessings. Mabon is a time of autumn equinox, and the harvest is winding down. The fields are nearly bare, because the crops have been stored for the coming winter. Mabon is a time when we take a few moments to honor the changing seasons, and celebrate the second harvest. Held in or around the third week of September, it is time of balance and reflection, following the theme of equal hours of light and dark. This is the time of the Wheel of the Year when the Sun God begins journey into the Underworld until his death at Samhain.
