The details come from Japanese magazine Mac Fan, which were summarized on Tuesday by Macotakara. The report claims Apple's next-generation iPhone may sport a 1,920-by-1,080-pixel 5-inch display packing in 440 pixels per inch. It was claimed that Apple plans to make both sides of the screen as "thin as possible." That could allow the company to promote the "iPhone 6" as the first "phablet" able to be operated with one hand. The appeal of one-hand operation was already something Apple already focused on when it released the iPhone 5, sporting a larger 4-inch display, in 2012. That was an increase from the 3.5-inch display...

...We purchase products and services almost everyday of our lives. As consumers, we need to make the best decisions, so we don’t unnecessarily spend more money. I am going to discuss two products that my family and I have purchased in the past. The first product is an iPhone case/cover, which costs less than $25 and the second product is a MacBook Pro laptop, which costed well over $200. Although these products are of a different value, the purchasing process can be quite similar. When I purchased my iPhone 5, my next step was to buy a case to keep the phone protected from any accidental damage. Since I was at the Apple store at the time of the purchase, I decided to look at some of the cases that were offered. I liked the Otterbox cases because they seemed to be the most effective in protecting the phone. I knew that my screen would have a much better chance at survival with this case on, if I happened to drop it by accident. Although the Otterbox cases were made with great quality, the prices were a bit extreme ($50-$75), and I knew that once I walked out of the store and over to one of the cell phone case kiosks, that I may find the same case if not better for a cheaper and more affordable price. So that is exactly what I did. I went to the kiosk and started looking at some cases, which looked appealing, and when I asked the guy how much he sold his Otterbox cases for, he replied $40. Eventually, I was able to bring the cost down to $30 with no tax after some bargaining, but I...

...Compare and contrast the traditional roles of managers presented by Fayol’s early writings with more contemporary research of Stewart and Mintzberg. Introduction The roles of managers cannot be easily described as some people, such as Fayol, Stewart and Mintzberg, all have different interpretations of the phrase. Mullins (2005) said that the role of managers where that they are “essentially an integrating activity which permeates every facet of the operations of an organisation”. This essay is going to compare and contrast the interpretations of roles of managers as they are all different. There are two types of views, the traditional approach of the 19th and 20th century, and the systems approach from the 1960’s onwards. Fayol had a traditional approach to the roles of managers where as Stewart and Mintzberg had more of a systems approach. Comparisons Fayol’s approach is quite similar to Mintzberg’s way of classifying manager’s jobs. Fayol’s suggested that there were 5 main roles of managers, these being planning, organising, commanding, coordinating and controlling. Mintzberg suggests that managers have quite similar roles as they have to be able to be a leader and communicate well. These are the two main roles of any manager as they need to be able to a good leader. If they have good leadership skills then they will get the trust from employees and the job will get done effectively. If you were to have a very weak leader then they would not have the authority to get anything...

...Once your files are backed up, shut down your MacBook Pro. Plug it into the AC adapter, and then boot it back up. Finally, press and hold “Command-R” (the “Command” and “R” keys at the same time) to start the restore process. Hold these keys until the Apple logo appears on the screen, and then release them. You will be taken to an alternative boot screen with a “Mac OS X Utilities” menu. Step 3 In order to complete a system restore, you will need to connect your computer to the Internet. Select “Wi-Fi” from the Utilities menu and find the router you will be using. Enter your Wi-Fi username and password to connect. Step 4 Depending on which version of OS X you are using, your Utilities menu will be slightly different. Look for either “Internet Recovery” or “OS X Recovery,” and select whichever one you find. This should present you with a “Reinstall OS X” option. Click on it, and then wait as your MacBook Pro connects to the Internet and gathers information on your laptop from Apple servers. You may be prompted to provide your Apple account information, including username and password. If so, provide it. In any case, this process will eventually reach the point where your MacBook downloads the latest version of OS X, as well as the standard programs that Apple includes pre-installed on every laptop. Your hard drive will then be automatically formatted, and the computer will restore itself to factory settings. Step 5 Once the reinstallation process is completed...

...The MacBook Pro is a line of Macintosh portable computers introduced in January 2006 by Apple Inc., and now in its third generation. Replacing thePowerBook G4, the MacBook Pro was the second model, after the iMac, to be announced in the Apple–Intel transition. It is also the high-end model of theMacBook family and is currently produced with 13- and 15-inch screens, although a 17-inch version has been offered previously. The first generation MacBook Pro appeared externally similar to the PowerBook G4, but used the Intel Core processors instead of PowerPC G4chips. The 15-inch model was released in January 2006, a 17-inch model in April, both of which received several updates and Core 2 Duo processors later in the year. The second model, known as the "unibody" model, has a more tapered design and a casing made from a single block of aluminum. It debuted in October 2008 as the 15-inch MacBook Pro and the 13-inch aluminum unibody MacBook. The following January brought the design to the 17-inch model, along with the built-in battery that joined the rest of the MacBook Pro line in June, including the 13-inch model which Apple absorbed into the MacBook Pro line. Subsequent updates brought upgraded Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and introduced Intel'sThunderbolt technology. Apple released the third generation of MacBook Pro in June 2012 as a 15-inch screen size only. At the same time, slightly updated versions of the previous 13- and 15-inch unibody models were announced that will...

...manufacture, use, or sell an invention for a certain number of years,” according to Dictionary.com. Although they do research to determine whether it is legal for the applicant to hold the patent, the US Patent Office does not test any invention to determine if it is actually useful. Thousands of patents are on file for useless devices or processes that have helped precisely no-one and made no impact on any industry. If a patent is useless, it may be an invention, but it most certainly is not an innovation. One example of outstanding innovation often given is the MacBook Air because it was lighter and far more portable than other laptops. However, with their release of the MacBook Air, Apple was actually a follower, not a leader. In 1998, Hewlett Packard came out with an ultrathin, light, wedge-shaped laptop called the Sojourn. Sony improved upon the idea—they innovated—when they came out with the Vaio X505 in 2004. The 2010 Macbook Air was remarkably...

...Introduction In 1976, a couple of college dropouts, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, founded Apple Computer. Working out of the Jobs family garage they built a computer circuit board that they named the Apple I. Jobs made it Apple’s mission to bring an easy to use computer to market and in 1978 introduced the Apple II, which was a relatively simple machine that people could use out of the box. Apple quickly became the industry leader, until IBM entered the PC market in 1981, which lead to Apple fundamentally changing their competitive position. Apple was still considered aesthetically pleasing compared to the bland IBM PC, but lacked the “open” system that other producers could clone from the IBM PC. In contrast, Apple relied on proprietary designs that only Apple could produce. In 1984, Apple introduced the Macintosh, marking a breakthrough in ease of use, industrial design, and technical elegance from a PC, but it still lacked a microprocessor with speed and compatible software. In 1985, Jobs was removed from his operational role and eventually left the company to start up a new company called NeXT. After this Apple struggled with establishing a sustainable strategy and suffered an up and down history. Finally, when Steve Jobs returned and was made CEO of Apple in 1997, Apple finally saw the turnaround it needed. He quickly shook things up and established relationships with Microsoft and Intel, which would take Apple’s PC to new heights. In January 2007, three decades after its...

...Case Study 8: Apple Inc. in 2010 By reviewing performances of each product line and analyzing the financial statements before 2010, we suggest Apple to keep all of its business segments, because personal media players and personal computers have played an important role in Apple’s longevity, and Smart phones and tablet computers are critical divers of revenues in the present and future. First, personal media players product line should not be dropped since it was not only the driver of “hallo effect,” but also the leader of personal media player industry. Dropping this product line will cause adverse conjecture about the future of Apple and affect the stock price dramatically, because this business segment created “hallo effect,” helping other products of Apple became popular with customers in the past years, which means it was considered by publics as the icon product to Apple. In addition, there is no need to drop this line. Although there were a lot of producers in the digital music players industry, Apple held 73% market share in 2010, and none of rivals with very little market share in this industry can compete with Apple. Because of the significance and absolute predominance of personal media players, Apple should not drop its media players line. Second, since personal computers is a potential market which has big growth space, and this sector is the main business for Apple, Apple should not get rid of this product line. With the worldwide recovering economy, the demand...
