Magic in the Screen
In the age of technology which we currently live, it would be unheard of to come across someone who did not own a television, a computer, and a mobile phone. With all kinds of electronics at our disposal, personal interactions have become less essential. A 2008 study conducted by Ball State University and sequent partners, found the average American spend eight and a half hours a day in front of a screen whether it be a TV, a computer or some other gadget. A paper published in “Biologist” stated in 2007 on a average a person would spend under 2.5 per day participating in face to face interactions. This means that the average person would spend a minimum of triple the amount of time staring at a screen then they would in face to face interaction. In the Poem ‘The Screen’ By Terrence Chiusano, the author provides an example of the memorizing affect screens have on people. The poem explain how during flights the passengers generally ignore the stewardess when she explains emergency procedures, except on one flight the author was on where they instead used a prerecorded version. The recorded version immediately captivated everyone’s attention. The author’s message is clearly stated as well as obviously depicted in his example, ‘the screen is magic’. His language is simple and straight forward as he does not to dress up his message to have it understood. Even in a situation where the information could potentially save the viewers life it is ignored when presented in person and must be conveyed on a screen to capture the audience’s attention. In my own experience I have never been shown a prerecorded version on a flight. However I have noticed when the stewardess begins her speech few if any people focus their full attention on her. Although I have not experienced the example discussed in the poem I have witnessed the power the screen has over

...communication of parties electronically, if a potential client is unable to easily use the website and find information they deem important than the website is destined to fail. I like that the website’s search bar is right up top and is the second thing you see after the logo. Sometimes you just want to type in exactly what you are looking for and go. This leads to another important aspect of an e-commerce website which is navigation. This website has 5 of the biggest categories such as Men, Women, Kids sports apparel right up top. Navigation is the ability of a client or potential client to go from screen to screen on the website and the ease of purchasing from that website. The next important feature is color, this is pretty self-explanatory but could easily be overlooked when a designer or company is building a website. Reebok.com does a great job of using color in the home screen to catch the consumer’s attention and get them interested in their products and promotions. In the “Rally” photo it shows a female runner at night in a pink sweater which shows a lot of contrast and is a nicely done photo. Choosing the correct colors could have an important role in gaining the attention of a consumer and encouraging them to keep coming back to the website. Give an example in your answer. The overall design of the website is simple yet gives the viewer the ability to explore and find out from athlete spokespersons or how the sports apparel is made. The call to action is subtle but is...

...warm and innovative features (WDW, 2012). Bay Lake Tower is very close to the Magic Kingdom, which is a wonderful theme park for younger children to experience during several days of a family vacation. The Tower is connected by an elevated walkway to the Contemporary Resort, and there is a special monorail that goes to the park, and stops only at two other hotels. It is more convenient to stay closer to the park where you are planning to go more often, especially when traveling with younger children. After researching the many resorts at Disney World, the Bay Lake Tower appeared to be the best choice for these and many other reasons.  The first reason Bay Lake Tower is a perfect choice for a dream vacation is due to the many amenities each room possesses (Tripadvisor, 2012).   More specifically, amenities at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort include: air conditioning in public areas, barber, 1-hour room service, laundry facilities and services, services for people with disabilities, an outdoor heated swimming pool with multiple slides, a children's splash pad, sunbeds, in-room safe and massage services at the spa.   Also provided in each room is a pack and play crib so that families with infants do not need to have the added stress of bringing one along with them. There are also multiple activities for children at the resort, one of which is a nightly Disney movie shown outside on a big screen. Furthermore, rooms provide the opportunity for guests to enjoy a kitchenette...

Band-Aid Promotion

...Band-Aid came up with some solutions, which could create emotional bond between parents and kids. * Developed the Band-Aid Magic Vision app. * Advertised cartoon characters on Band-Aid box. * Put parents and kids in the same scene in the advertisements. A good marketer often attempts to have an emotional connection with customers, and Band-Aid was trying to do so with mothers who might be delight if something could distract kids from the hurt. As a result, JWT New York helped Band-Aid create this Magic Vision app (Exhibit 1). When a parent applies a Band-Aid and scans it with this app, a cartoon character will appear to emerge from the bandage. When the character appears, he will sit on a swing and say:“Feeling hurt? Forget about that, because we are gonna have a concert!”What’s more, kids could tap the screen to take picture and shake the iPhone or iPad to make fun of the characters or something else. Users gave high appraisal to this app with 4.5/5 stars on the iTunes Store and obtain a 12.5% app “like rate” which surpassed the industry average level – 10%(Data from 2012, https://www.thinkwithgoogle.com/campaigns/band-aid-brand-adhesive-bandages-johnson-johnson-band-aid-magic-vision.html). This Magic Vision app also won the sliver award of creative technology in 2012(Exhibit 1). The market response has proved the success of Band-Aid Magic Vision app. A good packaging is able to make your product stand out from the shelf. The most efficient way to attract kids’...

Magic

...Magic makes people happy, magic makes people wonder, magic makes things happen one can never dream of. In honor of magic and other supernatural elements, which played a very vital part of me growing up, I would be discussing the fantasy genre in the current Hollywood industry. Films were made entirely and solely to serve one purpose that is to serve and satisfy people’s entertainment needs. Fantasy is one such aspect of film making where people let their imagination fly and bring to life the most beautiful creatures and worlds. It maybe just a small gnome or giant troll, from pixies to witches, fantasy genre has appealed to a vast audience. Being a 90s kid, I learnt a lot of valuable things growing up which included how to defeat a troll on loose or how to trade my soul for immortality, even though a lot of these techniques haven’t been put to much use but I still believe there was good message for the viewers in there somewhere. This genre has been used for about a century and has hot the current pop culture pretty hard. Old people might remember the Dracula who wouldn’t spare a single life, that old character has been redefined and molded innumerous number of times to appeal the current generation audience, the current vampires sparkle and get married. The biggest part of the fantasy genre of films in my life would clearly be imagination and hope. A lot of these movies gave me the mental strength to always wait for the good things to happen when hard times were wandering...

...Hollywood Studios is the smallest park out of the four parks. It has mainly all movie themed things and has a few rides. Most of the things to do in Hollywood Studios is to watch shows inside the buildings. The had a Frozen sing-a-long that we went to and a muppet show that was really cute. The Star Wars ride was a motion ride where the seats leaned with a screen that made it feel like you were riding in the Millennium Falcon with C-3PO as the pilot. Then there was the Rockin Roller Coaster which is the only roller coaster in the Disney Parks that I know of with loop flips and corkscrew flips in it. Mogul History

...Without the development of new technology the motion picture industry would have never developed into what it is today. The idea of capturing movement and creating an illusion of life and turning it into a story has been around since the mid 1600’s. Shadow shows eventually led to the invention of the Magic Lantern in 1659. Edison took it a step further and invented the Kinetoscope. The Kinetoscope amazed people with the moving images. However, they were only viewable by one person at a time, as you had to peer through a peep-hole. The Lumiere brothers in France had a better idea for a way of viewing the movies. They invented the Cinematograph in 1895. This was a breakthrough as the films could now be viewed on a projection screen by large audiences. The first commercially successful projector in the United States was the Vitascope, invented by Thomas Edison. Edison is known as the “Father” of motion pictures due to his inventions, which changed the motion picture industry forever. With the breakthrough of sound and motion together, the movies were forever changed. The invention of new technology allowed the industry to grow and develop into what we know it as today. The movies began to turn into a business, a multimillion dollar industry. It was the movie stars who made the motion picture industry explode as it did. Without stars, movies are nothing. Look at the movies today that people watch. If it doesn’t have a major star, many people don’t bother taking...

Hospital Tablet Recommendation

...Best Practices and Recommendations: Tablet Selection for Use by Healthcare Practitioners White Paper Date: April 16, 2016 Contents * Overview and Background * Criteria for Consideration * Operating Systems * Security, Legal and Regulatory * Hardware * Recommendation Overview and Background A large, local hospital has requested consulting assistance with a technical research and specification project related to the selection of a tablet device for use in their medical practice. This tablet will be used by personnel for medical and administrative purposes throughout the hospital. Criteria for Consideration The following criteria have been considered as part of this evaluation: Operating System: There are many different options available in healthcare mobility solutions; however, the three most common operating systems in place today are MS Windows 10, iOS 9.x and Android 6.0. There are well-defined positives and negatives around each platform that must be carefully reviewed prior to making a decision. As operating system selection is primary to device selection, it is critical that this step in the selection criteria is well thought out. When reviewing operating systems, it is important to keep in mind the initial criteria of this research. Selecting an operating system for an enterprise-based medical device is quite different than selecting an operating system and device for personal use. While the Apple iOS and Google Android OS...

Edwin S. Griffith's Life Of An American Fireman

...film practice, including the close-up of an actor's face and the dissolve from one scene to the next. Both of these techniques, which were borrowed from the early magic lantern shows that predated cinema, became hallmarks of the Edison studios. Magic lantern shows featured slides that portrayed famous people. Dissolving from slide to slide was a common way for exhibitors to move through a particular program. Once the projector was introduced, however, these techniques became virtually impossible for the exhibitor to execute. Porter's ability to import these techniques into the film itself established a new creative authority for the filmmaker at the same time that it reintroduces familiar forms to American audiences. (Encyclopedia.com) Georges Méliès Maries Georges Jean Méliès was born in Paris in 1861 and from a very early age he showed a particular interest in the arts which led, as a boy, to a place at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris where Méliès showed particular interest in stage design and puppetry. (EarlyCinema.com) Méliès’ principle contribution to cinema was the combination of traditional theatrical elements to motion pictures - he sought to present spectacles of a kind not possible in live theatre. (EarlyCinema.com) He pioneered the first double exposure (La caverne Maudite, 1898), the first split screen with performers acting opposite themselves (Un Homme de tete, 1898), and the first dissolve (Cendrillon, 1899). Méliès tackled a wide range of subjects as well as...

...The Best Film I Have Ever Seen Lots of people find watching films one of the best ways of spending their leisure time. Due to numerous video facilities, which have emerged in this country over the past years, we have a chance to watch the most popular and new films. As for me, I am always impressed by films screened after a book. Moreover, I find it enjoyable to reread the book which I don't remember very well to be able to compare it with the screen version. The film «The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug» directed by Peter Jackson and with Martin Freeman and Ian McKellen as leading actors is the screen version of the book written by the popular English writer - John Tolkien. The film was released in 2013. The story concerns Bilbo Baggins. He’s a rather plump hobbit and he finds himself unwittingly drawn into an adventure by the wizard Gandalf. Along with thirteen dwarves, he finds himself bound for Lonely Mountain, where a dragon named Smaug hordes stolen treasure. But the road is wrought with danger. Using magic and quick thinking, with the help of giant eagles and man who can turn into a bear, they manage to complete their quest, only to realize that there are more important things in life. The film is rather long, but it’s amazing. The plot is great! And acting impressed me a lot, because of the excellent cast! It’s in 3D, so the effects are fascinating and exciting. This is not the 1st 3D film I have ever seen, but this version of the video continues to amaze me. Thanks...
