When the common child is asked what he or she wants to be when they grow up, their unparalleled brain always formulates an answer so anticipated and banal. The child will often say something absurd like billionaire, movie star, international super spy, or dinosaur hunter, unaware of the haunting realities stored away in adulthood, and I was no different. Ever since I was a child, I always had an immense fascination with science and excelled at math, so I’ve always known I was going to do something scientific-related in the future, like a scientist in a lab or a doctor prescribing medicine. The sense to strive for success was something instilled to me at a very young age by my parents, anything below an A in class was tantamount to murder in my household. …show more content…
Prior to my Freshman Year, I took an exam to see if I was eligible to enter a magnet program when I entered high school. The score I got qualified me into all three magnet programs in my school district: Global Business and Advanced Technology, Health and Science, and Engineering and Technology. It wasn’t even a question to know which program I was going to pick. I am currently a senior enrolled in the Engineering and Technology Magnet Program at my high school, which requires me to take classes that make it fundamental to use problem solving skills paramount to effectively communicate with others. I have taken classes that require me to do anything from develop and edit the floor plans of an apartment complex, to work in a group of classmates to construct a functional robot. These engineering classes have advanced my ability to work well with others and find immediate solutions for vexatious problems. These skills will be vital in any job that I may choose to pursue in the future, particularly jobs in the science
