NP2000 Introduction
The NP2000 is variable-pitch aircraft propeller designed for a variety of medium to heavy duty cargo and passenger aircraft. The propeller is equipped with state-of-the-art electronic control, all composite blades, and individual line-replaceable blades. Compatible with most Allison and Rolls Royce engine installations.

NP2000 Maintenance Concept
The NP2000 propeller system maintenance concept is based on phase inspections according to the number of flight hours. The interval of these inspections is 500, 1,000, 1,500 flight hours. Because of planning purposes, these phase inspections contain periodic maintenance tasks, which would be otherwise performed according to calendar time. Exceptions are inspections such as Pre-flight inspection, Post-flight, conditional, and turn around inspections that are performed at the (O) level.

Maintenance Levels
A traditional three-level maintenance concept, consisting of Organizational level (O), Intermediate level (I) and Depot level (D) maintenance was adopted for the NP2000.

Organizational Level Maintenance
The “O” level maintenance is performed by operational units performing the following maintenance actions: * Pre-flight inspection, Post-flight inspection. * Propeller Servicing. * Electronic control system diagnostics. * Propeller balancing. * Removal and replacement of individual blades. * Removal and replacement of propeller assembly. * Removal and replacement of propeller dome assembly. * Removal and replacement of propeller pump housing assembly. * Removal and replacement of forward and aft spinner assemblies. * Removal and replacement of propeller variable pitch actuator. * Removal and replacement of propeller brush block assembly. * Removal and replacement of propeller electronic control unit (PECU). * Removal and replacement of propeller deice slip ring assembly.

Intermediate Level Maintenance
The (I) level maintenance is performed by the aircraft intermediate maintenance department personnel and consists of work on the propeller installed on the aircraft as well as on individual disassembled components. At the (I) level, selected (O) level line replaceable units (LRU’s) are tested and inspected in order to identify and repair the cause for failure. Repairs are carried out on those LRU’s that are prescribed as (I) level repair. If the failure cannot be identified or repaired, the unit/component is delivered to a repair facility or the manufacturer (Depot level).

Depot Level Maintenance
Depot level maintenance will be through a performance based contract with the manufacturer. The LRU’s requiring maintenance at the Depot Level are repaired by the propeller manufacturer or by the unit/component supplier/manufacturer.

NP-2000 Depot Level Inspection Requirements
After 1,000 flight hours (which is half of the propeller service life), visual inspections of the main propeller structure and main suspension points with eddy currents, with consequent disassembly if any anomalies are discovered.

Technical Publications
Publications new and updated will be in a phased approach in five phases with deliveries from 3/31/13 through 5/31/13. Phases will be determined by priority and determined by availability of source data. Phases one and two will satisfy requirements for validation of installation. Phases three through five will satisfy maintenance and operation requirements.

Training
Initial training will be provided by manufacturer. This training is included on initial acquisition contract and will be performed at the three sites utilizing NP2000 system. Follow on training and technical support is to be provided on a performance based contract by contract support teams. Contract requires technical support teams to be located in the three sites utilizing system and provide 24/7 support with the capability to travel to support deployed units.

No unique support equipment requirements are anticipated.

No new requirements for NP2000 integration.
Manpower and personnel
No new requirements for NP2000 integration.
Supply Support
No new requirements for NP2000 integration.
