Mairead Corrigan was born on January 27, 1944, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Her father, Andrew Corrigan, was a window cleaning temporary worker while her mother was a housewife (Encyclopedia of World Biography). Corrigan went to a Catholic schools however at the age of fourteen she needed to drop out since her family could not bear the cost of her educational (Nobelprize.org).
