...suffering from life- threatening illnesses who do not have a chance to be a kid or to grow up with the memories of childhood. We try all we can as parents and family to keep our children safe we just can not perdict a child getting a life threating illness, we do all we can to make our child happy while going through a scary ordeal. If we can make one dream come true for a sick child for one day of forgetting they are staring down a life threatening illness and make that child laugh wouldn't giving that child a wish come true be amazing? The social program I am creating is a program to help a child who is terminally ill or has a life threatening illness called “Dreams Come True.” A dream come True program would for one day grant sa wish one child makes come true. To make this happen I would need to set up the program, find donors and volunteers, financing to help the wishes come true. Advances in medicine and modern technonogy have increased the survival rate in children with chronic illness, including illnessess that were considered fatal (Cohen,1995).Witnessing the child's pain and fear, combined with the constant fear of death makes it difficult for the family to function normally and plan for the future (Haas, 1990; Rolland, 1994; Sloper, 2000). Literature on the differential impact of the child's chronic illness on the fathers and mothers is limited . Although paternal roles have changed over the past...

...school, mom said blow the candle and make a wish baby….we made a wish…in high school a friend said, blow an eyelid and make a wish my friend…We made a wish….in university elders said, work hard and wish for a bright future…we made a wish. In middle age a partner said, save your money and do whatever you wish… we made a wish…in old age everyone said start praying and wish for a peaceful death... and we made a wish…when death comes there was nobody to say make a wish…still we made a wish… Well, throughout our whole life we keep on wishing…keep on answering what or who we want to be. But many of us die without knowing who we really are. I think wish generates from that point of view because wishes are nothing but us, our life. You don’t have to be in a rush to choose our life’s work. What you need to do is discover what you like in other word what you really wish. Its not so important what your wish is as long as you are not wasting your time. Because at the end of the day it really doesn’t matter what people will say about your wish whether it is good or bad…practical or immature….whether it will provide you enough money or not. It really doesn’t matter because working on things that interest you and increase options will make you satisfied and your life complete. And if you can acquire perfection your wish will be automatically fulfilled. It will bring you fame, money whatever you want just name it. So, make a wish. Make it happen…your wish will define who you really...

...and thoughtlessly wished for wishes that would solely benefit them. In “The Monkey’s Paw,” many themes are portrayed, which include “be careful what you wish for,” “make sure to wish specifically so nothing backfires and is misjudged,” “greediness almost always leads to terrible consequences,” and many more. Nevertheless, the most powerful and common theme portrayed in this story is “one careless thought can lead to huge consequences.” To support this theme and idea, one piece of evidence found in the text was the area of the story where Sergeant-Major Morris warned the Whites that the use of the Monkey’s Paw is extremely dangerous and it should not be done. ““If you’ve had your three wishes, it’s no good to you now, then, Morris,” said Mr.White. “The Sergeant took the paw, and dangling it between his front finger and thumb, suddenly threw it upon the fire. White, with a slight cry, stooped down and snatched it.” “Better let it burn,”...

...I Wish..I May..I Wish..I Might I wish that clock went slower, paused, or could rewind I wish my heart wasn’t at the mercy of the hands of time I wish I could go back and tell myself what I know now I wish there was a book for me to understanding how I may be a good mother, or do at least my best I may have given all I had, and sacrificed the rest I may have loved with what I could, the outcome still is blind I maybe should have tried to change, not the other’s flaws, but mine I wish I had let God lead me, much earlier than this I wish I moved out of my own way, I may have already found bliss I wish I had learned from my mistakes, just as I had thought I wish I just listened and remembered, I know now what I forgot I might have had a smile on, it didn’t hinder me I might have laughed, and justified, it was easy to believe I might have been as strong as a rock, unbreakable, hard headed I might have played it really well, I might have just pretended I wish….I may….I wish…..I might….Have the wish, I wish tonight But wishing never got us moving forward in this life So raise a glass, let’s make a toast to the past that we can see I choose my future, and vow to make the change I need in me. -Kaitlyn...

...generosity, you can watch the smile melt from his face. Elliot Richards is a character that is lonely and unsatisfied with his life, and through a crazy journey of self-discovery, he becomes who he has always wanted to be. At the beginning of this journey, Elliot, a white male, seemingly in his late twenties to early thirties, is a nerdy adult. In the first scenes, he is wearing a fully buttoned up shirt with a tie underneath his sweater vest, all of which highlight the large glasses on his face. Elliot seems to hide behind his clothes and his glasses because he is not comfortable with himself. This is evident in the way he relates to his co-workers, he speaks like a middle school child in a work environment. His co-workers avoid him and make sly comments to demean our protagonist as if he would not understand, but because he works at the same level as them, Elliot is obviously a smart guy. Unfortunately, Elliot does not stand up for himself and just smiles and shrugs off their insulting behavior, eager to be accepted by them. One night after being blown off by these co-workers, Elliot goes out to a bar and finds them there as well. They hide their faces and try to avoid being seen by him but Elliot decides to go and sit with them anyway. Suddenly a woman walks in and Elliot’s demeanor changes immediately, he becomes quiet and melancholy with a look of longing in his eyes. It is obvious to his co-workers that he is in love this woman and they...

...The Monkey’s Paw –Story Analysis Imagination can take over and lead the mind on a journey to new beginnings. The author leaves the reader to discover underlying meanings while grasping the concept between reality and make-believe. Reading an interesting novel will give the readers a burst of different emotions, for example horror stories and thrillers leave the reader excited and eager for more, while romance makes them wish for the little things they do not have. While searching for the underlying intent, it is inevitable to come across many acts of representation, including the oblivious ones. At the end of a novel the reader gains knowledge and understanding of the author’s implications. As the story opens, the scene inside Laburnam Villa is contrasted with the scene outside. Outside, it's a typical dark and stormy night. Inside things are warm and cheery, with chess, knitting, and a roaring fire. People can always have a cheerful day no matter what the weather is like outside. As the story progresses, the house becomes progressively darker and spookier – complete with creaking stairs, strange shadows from candles and things that go bump in the night. After Herbert dies, the reader is told that the house becomes, "steeped in shadow and silence" (3.3). Mr. and Mrs. White also undergo an upsetting change, transforming from a happy couple into parents racked by grief. It is common for happy couples to have their off days, not everyone can be happy all the time. During...

...mistake, not a reward. The story starts off with the characters playing a game of chess adding their own spin to the game with the rule being once a move is made, it cannot be undone. With the game of chess the outcome results are determined by the moves made by each player. When one would make a wish by the lucky charm the wish could not be underdone like the rule pertaining to chess. The first player has made his three wishes with one of those wishes being death. “The first person of the monkey’s paw had wished for death in order to cancel out his first two wishes that he had made. Referring to the game of chess, the writer adds that the father, Mr. White just made a serious mistake which had resulting in the son’s victory. One may not know that this was only the beginning for more foretelling events to come. Fate plays an interesting role as the story begins to unfold. A flash back to the game of chess, Mr. White’s fate was to find a way to interfere with fate. The game of chess showed that his one bad move resulted in a bad judgment call that affected his son. Mr. White’s bad judgment call showed that he gave into the monkey’s paw of getting whatever he wanted by simply speaking it in a wish form that wishes are usually granted but come with a very high ticket price. When Morris decided to throw the monkey’s paw in the fire it was an attempt to get rid of it. With the fire being the only element that could destroy such an evil...

...would use them to benefit the world in whole. I believe that the only good change are ones that can help more than just myself. The first wish I would make would be for Peace Worldwide. Requesting peace may sound cheesy, but think of the changes it would make in our world. If everyone could get along without hate and be able to tolerate each other. If we had Peace there would be no reason to have Homicide Units in the Police Departments. If we had Peace there would be no need for prisons, and just think about how much money we would save as a whole. If there were peace just think about how many tears would never have to be shed. To me peace is a wonderful thing to wish for. The second wish I would make would be for no uncurable sicknesses. If we could cure all ailments we would have better life spans, as well as better life period. When I think about AIDS and what it does to the individual suffering from it and their loved ones it breaks my heart. I wish we could absolve that from ever happening to another soul. The AIDS virus is not the only sickness, there is cancer, mental disorders, body ailments, and alcholism, drug addiction, and so many more that we all could list that touches someone, somewhere, and somehow. I would love to see sickness removed from our world. I would wish that instantly if I could. The third and final wish if a genie graced me with his lamp would be for everyone in the world to know and truly understand what loves is and be able to give it correctly...

But little of what they know that every wish would have a bad consequence. Mr. White friend major Morris has given them the paw to make wishes but explain to them that the paw is evil and they shouldn’t have helped.
