Make America Great Again: Put Our Money to Good Use
Growing up our parents try to teach us to spend our money wisely, but maybe our government never learned this lesson. We are 19 trillion dollars in debt and there is an abundant amount of programs and organizations that could use major tune ups here in America with that money (Boccia). Putting our money in the right places is what will truly make America great again. We already put enough into the military budget; the United States should focus on other government programs like health care, infrastructure, and education. Since we are responsible for lending our tax dollars to the government’s military, increasing the amount will result in a rapid incline of our tax dues. In order to effectively budget our government programs, we must ration our tax money to different organizations to better contribute to the growing of America. If we keep on this track of inflating our military budget, America will start to take more money from other more important sections of government funded areas and divvy it out among the military. As stated before, our military does not need this money.
The pentagon, housing the Department of Defense, has a budget that consumes 80% of individual income tax revenue (Budget). That leaves 20% for other government-funded programs to thrive, in terms of income tax. If we cut that number, even just in half, we would have more funds for low-income families and their needs for healthcare and education.
Although our military defense is one of the more important places America must put our money into, we still need to pay more attention to these other in-need areas. Healthcare and education are two of the most necessary services America provides to our citizens to live and sustain in this world. Without healthcare, our country would deplete and ultimately die off. Without education, we would be left without leaders to head America in the future and ultimately fall apart in terms of medical needs, law enforcement needs, and political
