Informative Speech: How to make Fruit Pizza
INTRO:
Good morning everyone, I am Kaylee Black. Everyone has a favorite dessert, and mine is a fruit pizza. Since I was a little girl I always loved to help my mom make this treat. Baking became somewhat of a tradition for my mom and I. Making a fruit pizza is something fun and simple that can be enjoyed by many. Today, I will walk you through what you will need, how you will prepare and serve a quick, easy and delicious fruit pizza. * The first step in making the fruit pizza is to gather all the ingredients and materials needed. * To begin I make a list of the ingredients I need, I got the recipe from Pilsbury.com * The following ingredients are essential to the Fruit pizza. For the crust you will need just one ingredient 1. 1 roll of Pillsbury sugar cookie dough
Then for the frosting you will need 2. 1 Package of Cream Cheese softened 3. 1/3 cup of sugar 4. ½ a teaspoon of vanilla
For the toppings you can include all or just a few of the fruits, depending on your liking 1. Strawberries 2. Kiwis 3. Raspberries 4. Blueberries 5. Mandarin Oranges
On Foodnetwork.com they even add chocolate chips to add as toppings to the pizza.
On Allrecipes.com they have another variation you can choose to do or not. They add an apple jelly to cover the fruit. I personally do not care for the jelly. The materials you will need will be: 1. A 12 in round pizza pan 2. Non-stick spray or foil 3. Small Bowl 4. Electric Mixer
After you have all the ingredients and materials rounded up now we can start the fun part! The baking.

There is 10 easy steps in making this simple and delicious dessert, now for the first step, 1. Before you begin preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, that way it will be at the desired temperature when you are ready to begin baking the crust. i. Contrary to what you guys think, a higher heat doesn’t mean it will cook faster 2. Spray the non-stick cooking spray on the pizza pan or cover the pan with foil so the cookie doesn’t stick to the pan. 3. Then after you spray the pan begin by gently placing the cookie dough on the pan. It is very important that the cookie dough is evenly placed on the pan, that way the cookie will cook evenly throughout. 4. After the desired thickness of the crust, place the cookie crust in the oven for approximately 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. But watch it carefully while It is cooking, sometimes the cookie will rise from air bubbles and you will need to push it down to make sure it cooks all the way through. 5. Then Let the cookie cool for about 30 minutes. 6. Now, for the frosting. In a small bowl beat the softened cream cheese, sugar and vanilla with an electric mixer. If you do not have an electric mixer a fork will do the trick as well. Just mix till the mixture is fluffy. 7. Begin by spreading the mixture over the cooled crust. 8. After you have iced the pizza place it in the fridge. 9. Next, choose the fruits you want to have on your pizza and start cutting them. 10. Now for the last step which happens to be my favorite part involves being creative and designing the fruits. Arrange the fruit in a design of your choice.
-Once you are done placing the fruit on the pizza you are finished, just keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
Now that you know the steps in making a fruit pizza I am going to tell you how to serve, best times and places to take it. Serving the fruit pizza is very simple, you just cut it the same way as you would cut a pizza and serve it. My favorite times to have this dessert is in the summertime when it is hot. This dessert is a refreshing dessert since it is served cold with fruit. I love to make this for my friends who have summer birthdays and decorate it with the age they are turning. Also the 4th of July I always make it using a rectangle pan instead of a circle and use the fruit to make it look like a flag.
CONCLUSION
Now that I taught you all how to make a quick and easy fruit pizza, I hope you will try and make this simple dessert for your friends and dinner parties in the future. I hope you all enjoy the fruit pizza I made for you all!

Understanding what is being put into my body is essential for living a long, healthy life.      I tried to eat a wider variety of foods over the course of the three days so that I could have a balanced diet to write about. Out of the foods that I included in my diet, only a few foods contained protein, carbohydrates, and lipids. The protein in my diet was attributed to the chicken and the green vegetables that I consumed over the three days. The carbohydrates in my diet were mainly from the bread and the pizza that I consumed over the three days. The lipids that I consumed over the three days were from the fatty foods that I ate, such as fish, bacon, and pizza. Lipids come from the fats and oils that are in my diet (Carter). According to the Dietary Recommenced Intake, I had exactly 100% of the DRI for protein-carbohydrate-fat intake, which I was happy to see. However, my protein intake based on body weight was 370%, which was high. I feel that the protein in each of the foods I ate was overall at a good rate, which combines to be complementary. This is important for having a healthy balanced meal, which attributes to good health.  Macronutrient Intake     Macronutrients...

School Lunches: Friend or Foe in the Fight Against Childhood Obesity

...The rising obesity rate amongst school aged children and the need for better quality foods, not less expensive easy-access meals, raises an important question: “Should changes be made to the regulations for foods that are served in public schools or should responsibilities lie exclusively on educating parents about making better food choices for their children?” Parents and the community have a responsibility to help prevent childhood obesity by empowering children with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in the fight. The World Health Organization presented key facts and figures on childhood obesity to include a few of the following: • “The number of overweight or obese infants and young children (aged 0 to 5 years) increased from 31 million globally in 1990 to 44 million in 2012. In the WHO African Region alone the number of overweight or obese children increased from 4 to 10 million over the same period. • The vast majority of overweight or obese children live in developing countries, where the rate of increase has been more than 30% higher than that of developed countries. • If current trends continue the number of overweight or obese infants and young children globally will increase to 70 million by 2025”. (World Health Organization, 2014). While these statistics are staggering there are numerous things not only parents but communities, doctors, farmers, schools, local and state organizations and corporations can do to assist with the fight against childhood...

Children are being taught how to eat, when to eat, and what to eat by their guardians. This has been seen time and time again. When your child becomes old enough to eat solid foods, it is by the choice of their parents whether there are vegetables on their plate or fried chicken and French fries. The same goes with schools. They chose to go with a cheaper route of pizza, tacos, macaroni and cheese etc. This is where the decisions on what they choose to eat in the future begin. Healthy Eating Plan

...My Healthy Eating Plan Proper nutrition is the key to good health. When comparing the recommendations from MyPyramid Tracker to what I actually consumed; there is a definite need for change in my eating habits. This paper will focus on my current eating habits, the nutritional recommendations I received from the MyPyramid Tracker, and how I intend to implement a healthy eating plan into my everyday life. After document my eating habits for the past five days I have noticed a huge difference in my daily eating habits. I am not a stable eater; therefore my numbers fluctuate making my intake either increase or decrease at any given time. I am not a breakfast person, and only eat twice a day. I very rarely eat more than one full meal a day, which is not a healthy choice. Due to my sporadic eating habits it is quite difficult to pinpoint my problem areas, because what may be a problem area today may not be a problem area tomorrow. For instance on March 14, 2008, my calorie intake (kcals) was 2675 which exceeded the recommended or acceptable range of 1963. Now, on March 16, 2008, my calorie intake (kcals) was 1087 which was below the recommended or acceptable range of 1963. My vitamin intake on March 16 exceeded the recommended or acceptable ranges given to me by MyPyramid Tracker. This number is consistent with the food intake for this day. My grain intake was for both days were 5.5 oz. and 5.8 oz, the recommended is 6 oz. I did realize that my grain intake was good which...

Let's Fight Bacl

...around, humankind will have to endure the discomfort and cost of many obesity related chronic diseases. The question now is how do we fight back against childhood obesity? Children today are eating more snack like foods and drinking more soda pops and sugar filled beverages. Today our youth’s consumption of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are nowhere near the current recommendations. As a society, we need to educate our children to make smarter and healthier choices when food is involved. However, the average child attends school around seven hours a day, five days a week. That child has the option to eat what the school has prepared for breakfast and lunch, at least twice a day. Nanci Hellmich of USA Today reports, “Overall, kids consume about 30% to 50% of their calories while at school”. Therefore, schools should provide kids with access to more nutritious foods, items that are not only good for them, but that they can enjoy at the same time. Junk, greasy, and fatty food slows kids down; therefore kids need foods that can supply them with energy and the nutrition that their bodies need. The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 will achieve this by making serious improvements to federally funded school meal programs. As shown on Table 1 schools will provide children with...

Behavioral Change Journal

...behavior change is to eat a lot healthier mostly when I’m at school because I spend most of time there. I have school in the morning and in the afternoon I work at the UNLV library. So, I don’t get home late in the afternoon. I thought of this behavior change because while I’m at school I always want to get the fastest thing like chips, soda or even a pizza. While I’m at school I even forget to eat because I’m so busy or I don’t have enough time. I believe I chose a good behavior change for myself. I feel a lot better throughout the day when I eat healthier. At the start of my behavior change I would forget to get healthy but then I started taking pictures of the things that I ate on campus. Some sample things that I ate are granola bars, pretzels, and juice. The pictures I did take are here. I would eat a lot of these snacks throughout the day. I buy them from SAMs Club like granola bars, pretzels, water, vitamin water, oatmeal, fruit to make smoothies, and fruit cups. At first the behavior change was hard but as time went on I’m getting the hang of making healthier choices to eat. I have received a reward for eating a lot more fruit. On Fridays, I go out to dinner to reward myself for eating healthy all week. I haven’t counter too many encounters it just gets tough sometimes when I’m with my family or friends. They aren’t on this diet with me so they don’t have to eat so healthy and its hard when we’re eating together at they get something totally different than me. Sometimes...
