Diversity in Leading and Control Management is the part of an organization that is in control of leading and controlling the organizations employees. Management has to deal with diversity in the workplace in different ways such as his or her employee’s gender, race, religion, education, ethnic background, and sexual orientations. Whether a manager can deal with the diversity in the workplace can make or break him or her. A big part of leading is the managers’ capability to train their workers. An example is a large organization like Wal-Mart. Employees at Wal-Mart have particular jobs they are responsible for. Management must be qualified to train the employees in the job they have been hired to do. Without the correct training the employees may not be able to do the job correctly, which can cause the store to lose sales which can affect the company in a whole. Management also has to decide which employee is capable of doing a job. Some jobs call for heavy lifting, many cases education background, and ethnic background. Some employees because of religious backgrounds will not work on Sundays and some holidays. In these cases management has to work with these diversities and locate the right employee for the right job and schedule hours to accommodate religious beliefs. Management must also be qualified to control the workplace. If the manager does not have enough control, the workers may lose respect for him or her and not give one hundred percent. If management is too controlling the workers may choose to quit their jobs and seek employment elsewhere. If an employee is not doing his or her job correctly and does not improve management needs to terminate the employee to show other employees that it will not be tolerated. Management itself needs to take new training to comply with changes in the organization so they can train their employees of the changes.

...INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ACT JEANNIE M COOPER BIS/220 OCTOBER 31, 2013 BRIAN BOHLMAN The invention of the internet and the growing use of it by children brought about the implementation of new protection acts. Among those acts are the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which passed into law in 1998, and the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), which became law in 2000. This paper will discuss the advances in information technology that resulted in new ethical issues necessitating the creation of these acts. As the internet grew in popularity among the public, children began to use it more and more for everything from homework, to communicating, to searching for whatever information is out there (surfing). In most cases, websites required the users to put in their personal contact information and, in many cases, allow the website upload tracking cookies to the user’s computer. Almost anyone could then find, buy, and/or use that information for whatever reason. Children’s personal information could be accessed by pedophiles, bullies, or any other type of creep. According to L. Fair of the Federal Trade Commission, COPPA puts parents in control of what information children put online. Whether studying, shopping, surfing or chatting, today’s kids take advantage of everything the Internet has to offer. But when it comes to their personal information, parents are in the driver’s seat. According to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)...

...Organizational Structures Amber Tolson June 06, 2014 Management Theory and Practice Joseph GERWENS Amber Tolson Professor Joseph GERWENS Management Theory and Practice Organizational Structure Without organizational structure, staff members can run into difficulty with knowing who to report to in the business if any situations come up. In a business there needs to be structure so employees can know who they need to report to if they should need to communicate something that is of a concern. Organizational structure is very important because it improves the operations in the business. By a business developing a form of organizational structure different departments can be able to perform their own job functions and focus their time on their own job tasks. With a strong organizational structure employees can then be recognized with promotions for their hard work, dedication, and good work ethic. `To begin with, the crown plaza hotel is composed of many different kinds of areas of structures. (According to Bateman 2011) “Differentiation means that the organization is composed of many different kinds or tasks.” Inside of the Crowne Plaza hotel jobs and departments are grouped, specialized, and separated into their own job category. The crown Plaza organization is the same thing as an organizational chart because the jobs are organized into their own specific job duties. ...MGT2 - IT Project Management Course of Study This course supports the assessments for MGT2. The course covers 8 competencies and represents 3 competency units. Introduction Overview Project management is a systematic approach to solving a problem, taking advantage of an opportunity, improving a process, or otherwise creating something. A project goes through several phases, with a distinct beginning and end. A successful project includes effectively carrying out tasks related to initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing. Unsuccessful projects often skip some of these steps, perhaps not fully planning everything that needs to be done or forgetting to monitor the team to ensure they are sticking to the plan. An effective project manager foresees problems, makes appropriate trade-offs that ensure successful project completion, and, above all, facilitates communication among all project stakeholders, who are likely each looking for something different from the project. This course provides an overview of the Project Management Institute’s project management methodology. As you learn about the various process groups and knowledge areas, you will apply your knowledge in case studies for planning a project that has not started yet and monitoring/controlling a project that is already underway. You will solve problems, gather information, and make decisions using your expert judgment. The techniques you practice in this course will be beneficial...

Leading Small Groups

...Running head: LEADING AND PARTICIPATING Leading and Participating in Discussions in Small Groups or Teams Steven L McGee Group and Organizational Behavior Christine E. Philips, Ph.D. MHR Group 236 Trevecca Nazarene University Leadership is not dictating, it is about keeping the group focused and motivating members to do their best during group activities. According to a study by the Hay Group, a global management consultancy, there are 75 key components of employee satisfaction (Lamb, McKee, 2004). Trust and confidence in top leadership was proven to be the single most reliable predictor of employee satisfaction in an organization. When a person doesn’t respect the people in a leadership position, complications in tasks will arise. An example of this would be in the workplace when a leader is delegating responsibility to employees, and the employees do not respect him or her. The task will be completed; however, the quality or production will not be as good as it would if the manager was appropriately respected. Trust and respect go hand in hand when leading any group, whether it is in the workplace, school, or just a casual event. Aside from trust and respect, a leader has the ability to set the morale in a group. Being aware of the mental and spiritual shape of your teammates plays an important part in leadership. Leaders can shape morale by compassion, and by listening to other group members before adding their thoughts and ideas. By listening to others...
