1. Dr.white ordered an unusual dose of a medication. May Patterson, RN, sees the order and believes it to be the wrong dose. She calls Dr. White, who insists that she give the medication—as written. Nurse Patterson calls you, the administrator on call for the weekend, to resolve this crisis. What do you do?

Background statement

Dr.white prescribed an unusual high dose of a certain medication without,explaining the reason for this much high dose to the duty nurse may pattterson RN.May Patterson RN called me explaining the situation about the unusual dose.

Major probem

Unusual high dose of a medicine prescribed by dr .white reside concern of the nurse.

Secondary issues

Nurse concern about safety of the patient complained to the administrator .the patient’s life can be at risk duty this unusual high dose.the patient might go to coma or suffer from physical problem and to this high dose of medicine.

Dr.white who is very highly experienced might feel insulted being questioned about the method of his treatment.

My role

Being the administrator, it is my job.to ensure the safety’s of the paitent and also ensure that all the staffs,the drs and the nurses .I will take care of my patients health and safeties .

if I find any problem,I will take this issue this seriously and ask the board to take immediate action .

If I take a right decision ,I can ensure the safety’s of the patient in this hospital. Because of my role my relation with the staff might become bad.

Organizational strengths;
The nurse being concern about the patient safety’s dared to question the judgmentof the drs this means she really care the patient.

Organization weakness

Bad communication between the staff members. Not well trained for team work.
