Applied Research – The problem-solving nature of applied research means it is conducted to reveal answers to specific questions related to action, performance, or policy needs.
Basic Research – Basic research aims to solve perplexing questions or obtain new knowledge of an experimental or theoretical nature that has little direct or immediate impact on action, performance, or policy needs. 4. Purpose clearly defined ; Research process detailed ; Research design thoroughly planned ; High ethical standards applied ; Limitations frankly revealed ; Adequate analysis for decision maker’s needs ; Findings presented unambiguously ; Conclusions justified ; Researcher’s experience reflected. 5.
