People say you learn things from movies, American History X is a prime example for opening other’s eyes to life lessons. Life is too short to hate everyone for no reason. Our life expectancy is very short for human beings to hate so much. Be kind and loving. Those qualities will always be remembered. Hate can change the person you used to be. American History X was played in theatres back in 1998. Started Edward Norton, and Edward Furlong, two famous actors that were in popular movies as well. Edward Norton played in Fight Club and Edward Furlong played in Terminator 2. Like Danny Vinyard says “Hate is baggage, lives too short to be pissed off all the time.”Derek Vinyard used to be a straight-A student until he became part of the skinheads and a leader of the white supremacists in his hometown. But what influenced his change was his father’s death. Derek once said to a news reporter about his father’s death, “Yeah its race related! Every problem in this country is race related not just crime. It's like… immigration, AIDS, welfare those are problems in them. The Black community, the Hispanic community, the Asian community, they're not white problems.” Danny Vinyard, a 14 year old boy who was the younger brother of Derek Vinyard, who soon became corrupted. He had a great future ahead of him until he wanted to become like his big brother. Like any other younger sibling, right? So he soon developed that skinhead mentality and a very negative attitude in just a matter of time. This all started because he watched his brother kill a few gang members because they were trying to steal their father’s truck It put a mental strain on Danny after witnessing this mess. After that Danny just wasn’t the same anymore. At the beginning of the of the movie Danny had presented a book report on “Mein Kampf” to his history teacher which the teacher did not appreciate and thought it was absolutely absurd to the point he took it to the principal, Dr. Sweeney. Dr. Sweeney wasn’t too happy about it either, but Danny did make a point. The teacher said to write about anything that dealt with history. Sweeney even admits that Danny is a brilliant young man and Sweeney even told Danny so. Sweeney gave him another chance to write a whole new paper that would be due the following day and it had to be written on his brother Derek. If this paper was not done Danny would get expelled from school. After Sweeny approached him on the paper he went on with his day and headed home after school. Danny honestly didn’t want to go to school that day because Derek got out of prison that morning, but Derek wasn’t going to allow Danny to miss school. On Danny's arrival home he realized Derek is a different person. Derek grew his hair out and is so much more positive than he was three years ago.
Derek has changed a lot in the past three years while being in prison. He went from a guy who was tough to a guy who became so sensitive. He became part of a group that were white supremacists in prison. They protected him for a little more than a year into his sentenced until he began to observe what the others of the group were starting to do. They would go deal out money with the different sub groups in the prison, do favors for the other groups and Derek did not find that to be proper. Derek later on began to open his eyes and realizing that blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and so on are all the same. He realized that they are all human beings and that they aren’t all bad people. He befriended a black male known as Lamont from working in the laundry section in the prison. He got to know Lamont more and more throughout the few years he was in jail and he realized that Lamont is a great person. Lamont explained to Derek that he was in prison for stealing a TV, and Derek was confused why Lamont got sentenced six years in prison. Lamont proceeded to tell Derek that he stole the TV, and then when the police came around the corner at the same time as Lamont, but in an opposite directions that’s when the officer grabbed Lamont by the arm which caused him to drop the stolen TV on the officer's foot and which caused the foot to break. It was not on purpose, but with Lamont being black the police officer got away with a lie and got Lamont in prison for an unnecessary amount of time. That opened Derek's eyes so much more that he had a better understanding on how corrupt things are in society. Derek began hanging out with Lamont and, Lamont’s buddies playing basketball and the white supremacist group did not like that whatsoever. So one day Derek was in the shower and then everyone left because they all realized what was going to happen. Derek was sexually assaulted by a man named Aryn and was being raped in the rectum. As this was going on Aryn said “You wanna be a negro sweet boy, we gonna treat you like one.” As Aryn continued raping him. Then he said, “That was real sweet.” and left Derek on the shower floor helpless and confused. After this happened that is when Derek became so sensitive and realized it doesn’t matter who you are. People will always be treated like garbage no matter what your skin color is or even what your religion is. After Derek was emotionally destroyed Dr. Sweeney came in to talk to Derek because Sweeney always looked over Derek despite Derek’s history. Dr. Sweeney asked, “Has anything you’ve done made your life better?” and Derek replies back with shaking his head back and forth then says, “Gotta help me now.” After this whole incident with Derek he stuck to himself and read books during his remaining time for his sentence On the same day that Derek got out of prison Danny had a conflict with three African American boys because they were beating on this innocent boy in the bathroom stall. At this moment Danny got on one of the kids bad sides and blew cigarette smoke in that kid’s face. Later on that day, he was seen by that kid, and Danny just gives him a look and the kid returns a look back and one of the gang member questions the kid if that was one of the people (Danny) he wanted to kill. The gang member could just tell by how Danny presented himself that he was a skinhead. With knowing this that made the gang member want the African American kid to whack him even more. Later on that night, Danny and Derek returning home after Derek took care of some business with Cameron Alexander who is the cofounder of the skinhead group. Derek had threatened Cameron to stay away from Danny and the rest of his family. Danny completed his paper that he named “American History X” that was written about his brother as Derek cleaned up before he went to bed that night. The next morning Derek remembered seeing an old 1977 Cadillac once he seen it again while taking Danny to a donut shop before school. He started to realize there was trouble, but he wasn’t totally convinced quite yet until he saw that car for a third time after dropping Danny off at school. He then sprinted for his life on his journey to the high school, Derek just knew something went down. He halted when he saw police caution tape around the boy’s restroom and that is when Derek began to scream and cry at the police to let him through and that’s when Dr. Sweeney told them to let Derek through. This is when Derek met the demised of his younger brother who was gunned down; Danny was covered in his own blood looking lifeless as Derek pulled him close to his chest holding him tight and just screaming “No!” in disbelief that his brother is dead.
In Danny’s conclusion he added a quote of Abraham Lincoln: “We are not enemies, but friends.
We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.” Basically what we should learn from a movie like this is to not critize each other’s background nor race.

...Management accounting is concerned with the provision and use of accounting information to managers within organizations, to facilitate the managers in their decision making and management control functions. Unlike financial accounting information (which, for the most part, is made publicly available), management accounting information is used within an organization and is usually confidential. (Jiambalvo) The distinction between traditional and innovative management accounting practices can be illustrated by reference to cost control techniques. Traditionally, management accountants’ principal cost control technique was variance analysis, which is a systematic approach to the comparison of the actual and budgeted costs of the raw materials and labor used during a production period. While some form of variance analysis is still used by most manufacturing firms, it nowadays tends to be used in conjunction with innovative techniques such as lifecycle costing and activity-based costing, which are designed with specific aspects of the modern business environment in mind. Lifecycle costing recognizes that managers’ ability to influence the cost of manufacturing a product is at its greatest when the product is still at the design stage of its product lifecycle (i.e., before the design has been finalised and production commenced), since small changes to the product design may lead to significant savings in the cost of manufacturing the product. Activity-based costing recognizes that...

Managerial Accounting

...Managerial accounting, “is an activity that provides financial and nonfinancial information to an organization’s managers and other internal decision makers” (Wild & Shaw, 2012, p.4). Being that I am a senior level manager in a large company, there are several types of accounting information that my staff and myself should consider when making decisions. The types of information I feel would be important are budgets, and cost-allocations (Vitez, 2011). Budgets are formal statements of a company’s plans for the future. Being that mostly all of a company’s future plans are related to financial or economic details, a budget would be of utmost importance (Wild & Shaw, 2012). The second thing that would be important to my staff and me would be cost-allocations. Management uses this data to be certain that all of the goods and services that are being bought by the company are being priced correctly for the consumers; thus making sure that the company is making a profit. Cost allocation is another one of the most important pieces of accounting information for a company to think about. Management puts together financial reports that show the amount of capital that is being put out for all of the company’s resources. Some of the most common cost-allocations are job costing, process costing, throughput costing, and activity-based costing (Vitez, 2011). Information Technology is a very essential part of communication between managers and their workers. This sort of technology...
